Do you think this is a strange place for a clock

People need to know what time it is for all sorts of things.
I’ve never in my life needed one in the bathroom. Never spent that much time in there.
Especially needing to see it from a toilet - that’s so gross and so weird.

I don’t “fix myself up” to go out with husband. I guess I’m just low maintenance.
We like to dress up when going to a nicer restaurant for dinner such as a Ruth's Chris or Fleming's. I wear a dressy pantsuit or a dress and heels, DH dress slacks and shirt, sometimes a suit and tie.

We dress like that for dinner at most Disney TS, the Sigs and nicer ones, anyway.

We're weird that way by current standards, I suppose.

Congratulations?

I found it helpful when we were trying to get several teens through there in the mornings getting ready for school. And I like having it in there when I'm taking a bath before heading out somewhere at a specified time.

I take it Ruth’s Chris and Fleming’s are some kind of bar or restaurant? Never heard of them.

I guess if I’m getting dressed up I do check the time in my alarm clock in the nightstand just outside the en-suite.

Understandable.
Just never had one. Just asked husband and he thought it was weird too. Racking my memory to see if I recall being in a house with a clock in a bathroom . My parents, in-laws , grandparents - nope.
Guess it’s just one of those things that some families do and others don’t, learn something new everyday!

I do have a alarm clock on my nightstand outside my en-suite. Maybe glance at that some mornings if I’m dragging getting ready.

I do think the placement is a little odd, but not the idea of having a clock in the bathroom.

I do too. When you have male guests standing & facing the toilet, they may end up watching the second hand on the clock timing how long they are peeing. Might make them uncomfortable. :rotfl:

This reminds me of a time when I went to a party where a few college aged women lived together in a house. They had set a mirror up over the toilet so one could do her makeup there, while another roommate was doing her makeup with the mirror over the sink. At the party, all the guys mentioned having to pee while seeing themselves in the mirror and how weird that was.

We have a clock in our master bathroom, but it's not in the "toilet closet" - it's in the main part of the bathroom above the door to the bedroom so you can see it while you're at the sink or if you're in the shower. I find it helpful to have a clock in the bathroom. My husband doesn't put on his watch or get his phone the second he gets out of bed and heads to the bathroom to shower and get ready. It helps him stay on track. I usually shower after him, but go back later to dry my hair and put on my makeup before going to work and I need to be sure I'm not falling behind on my time.

We have clocks in almost every room. I can't imagine not having clocks in my house. We have everything from a 100+ year old antique mantle clock to a Mickey Mouse Amazon clock that links to our Echo.

We have one in our master bath, visible from the shower, so I don’t find it weird to have one in the bathroom.

That said, I’m not in love with the placement over the toilet in the picture. I would be moving things around a bit to find a different location for it.

Not strange at all, before I moved I had a spare wall clock and I put it in he bathroom within view of the toilet. Reasoning? What room are you lest likely to be bringing in a phone or a watch. Which room do you spend time in before you start your day? Which room would it be the most likely that you might need to know what time it is? I rest my case.

I am MOST likely to have my phone in the bathroom. I post my best disboard responses from the royal throne!

In both of our main baths we have clocks. One above the door and in the air and in the other above a cabinet. We will totally be late for everything we didn’t have clocks in the bathroom. Oh and in the main bathroom that I use I have a radio too. I turn it on automatically without thinking

My apartment (rental) shows the time (digital) in the bottom corner of the mirror. Which also lights up and has an anti-fog option. Not something I would have put in myself, but can by useful.

Mine isn't far away but last I heard cell phones and water are not compatible and the place in the house with the most running water is the bathroom so I cannot always be picking up my phone to check the time.

Apple and Samsung have been making phones that are at a minimum IP67 since 2015 and 2016. Other manufactures quickly followed. Samsung and Apple quickly upgraded to IP68 ratings, unfazed at a minimum by being 1.5 meters underwater for 30 minutes.

If I need to know the time, there would be no problem bringing my iPhone into the shower with me. I don't need to know the time when showering.

I do however often bring my phone into pools with me and occasionally into the ocean. After ocean trips I do rinse the phone in freshwater. It does seem odd to purposely run water over the phone trying to get it onto and into every surface but rinsing the salt is necessary.

I’ve moved with the times, and instead of bringing the newspaper into the bathroom I now bring my phone. We do also have a clock in the main part, not visible from the “throne”. But from the photos, what appears to be missing is a sign saying “If you sprinkle when you tinkle, please be sweet and wipe the seat”. 😉

So I should spend hundreds on a waterproof phone instead of looking at a wall clock?
