Do you think there will be long lines June 15th weekend for Carsland?

We are going to the resort for ONE DAY...
We plan to stay in Carsland only, and I think it will take us most of the day to wait through all the lines....
I would count on it. BUT -- you'll be there. :)

How bad do you think it will be the week after? We will be there from June 19 to the 22.
If busy = bad, B A D.

...Our group are all homeschoolers....and we're bringing over 200 kids from Phoenix the day before, so we'll be at rope drop...
Thanks for the warning? :rotfl: Seriously, though, I hope your group has a great time!

To everyone: It'll be busy all summer. It's a hugely anticipated new Land that has been spotlighted for a L O N G time. People are going to flock to it --- moreso than usual Disney summer-flock. And before everyone blames the locals... every single person I have spoken to who lives in So Cal and has an AP, has NO PLANS to wait in lines at Carsland for a few months.

I think the whole summer will be insane and I think they will have to have CMs stationed at the entrance to CarsLand to control traffic flow in and out. I am guessing many won't be even able to make into the LAND not to mention ride any rides and I think DCA and DLR as well will hit capacity often. I wouldn't go at all this summer if I wasn't going for Destination D and am coming in a few days earlier due to a convention I'm attending with DH a few days before in San Diego. I see this summer to be very stressful and frustrating for the DLR guest and plan on many drinks at Trader Sam's :)

Would you be worried about taking afternoon breaks from June 19 to the 22? Will we possibly not be able to get back in if it's too busy?

Disney has stated the reason you are getting your 2 Fast Passes as part of the event is to see Cars Land in 2013, so I'd assume they will be good for RSR once it's open this Summer.

Actually the wording on the Grad Night information doesn't say the Fast Passes are limited to Carsland....and frankly since the majority of the Grad Nights are in May and early June BEFORE Carsland opens, that would not make sense. Here is the wording:

In 2012, you will have more time, more flexibility and more room for celebrating this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Seniors will have the opportunity to enter Disneyland® or Disney California Adventure® Park at any time during their Grad Nite visit. Seniors will receive a Park Hopper® Ticket allowing them a full day to experience both Disney Parks! In addition, 2012 Grads will now receive a special FASTPASS option to use during their visit and a private showing of Fantasmic! to kick-off the exclusive private party that begins when Disneyland® Park closes.

No, I meant DLR. Had not heard that Nemo lines got as long as Indiana for an extended time but I also hadn't considered Nemo subs to be an E-Ticket type ride. Nemo has somewhat long waits now because of low ride capacity and slow loading/unloading. Star Tours isn't a new attraction, just revamped. It had long lines but those died down rather quickly. Last weekend they peaked at 35 minutes but was usually much lower.

Carsland Racers is the 1st major ride in quite a few years for either park. The entire new land will have a huge gotta see factor that I think will last several months, then peak again over the holidays at the end of the year. Whats unknown is if it will pull crowds away from other areas or add crowds overall.
Parks tend to add major rides - E-tickets - once in a very long while - every 10 years at least. TSMM (2008) is not an E-Ticket and neither was FNSV (2007) or LMAUA (2011) - but all were pretty major rides that were added. All D-tickets I would argue.

Space Mtn - was majorly revamped in 2005 and while not a new E-ticket it was a major improvement on an old E-ticket. Star Tours is more like a D-Ticket and of course it got a major upgrade last year.

ToT is a solid E-ticket and it was added in 2004. BLAB is a D-ticket and that was added in 2005.

DL has not had a new E-ticket since Indy I believe in the early 90's - almost 20 years. OTOH, MK has not had a new E-Ticket since before that if memory serves.

Overall, DLR has a lot more activity than WDW, FWIW.

Nemo wait times in the summer of 2007 were 4 hours +. I have always felt sorry for the poor folks who stood in line that long as this ride disappointed me so badly the first time I went on it (thankfully with zero wait time, we climbed right into the sub) and I've never gone back.

Star Tours TAC opened last June and most of the summer the lines were hours and hours long......it is much much more reasonable now, but it's also not really "new" to anyone anymore, lol. Last fall when we were there the lines were often an hour during the week, and closer to 2 on the weekends...but by the time we went back in Nov/Dec it had a few peaks but was mostly 30-45 minutes and you could still get FP after lunch.

Little Mermaid opened at the same time as Star Tours TAC, with long lines but they became more reasonable much sooner...partly because the load time is so quick, but also because it just wasn't one to want to go on a dozen times in a row like Star Tours TAC. The lines last fall and winter when we went were barely lines.

I'm sure there is a reason Disney opens new stuff at the same time as summer starts, lol......nothing like a frenzy to bring in even more people. "Wow, the lines are 4 hours, that ride must be FABULOUS, hey Mom can we go?" LOL

It's the same frenzy that makes people line up for hours on opening weekend to see a movie....can't say that I understand it, but it's certainly well documented, lol. Me...I'll wait until it gets to the $2 movie or probably until it's on DVD and I can buy it and watch everyday with no waiting.

Regarding getting back into the park...once you go in and get your hand stamped, wouldn't they let you back in even though they have reached capacity since you were already there?

I would guess that they might have to restrict access to Carsland the way they did at Universal Orlando with Harry Potter land, in the beginning. Just a guess, but I would worry that if they do not do this, it might be complete gridlock.

I am coming in mid-late Sept, hoping that by then the crowds will be smaller.....

no way!!! If you leave, even if you have a hand stamp, and during the time you are gone, they reach capacity level, you dont get back in till the crowds go down

Will there be fastpasses for the rides in Cars Land?:surfweb:

Yes for Radiator Springs Racers. In the first days they will all likely be disributed within 60-90 minutes and as Summer progresses may still be available upto a few hours.
June 15 update:
