Do you think the Superbowl would affect traffic and ticket prices to MCO?

Just wondered if people would figure, "ok, we're in FL, might as well fly through MCO and hit WDW." I had no idea of the timeframe when I booked my DVC rental (not a football fan). Now I'm afraid if we'd be affected.

Should I be concerned? We'll be travelling Jan 29th thru Feb 3.

I will say that I know a lot of my University of Tennessee friends combine a trip to any Bowl game in Florida with a trip for the kiddos at Disney......

I don't think so, I think they would attract different people. Plus you don't know who the teams are until 2 weeks before. Miami is over 200 miles from Orlando, I think the first alternate airports would be Fort Lauderdale or Palm Beach.

Super Bowl traffic will be heavy into Orlando. It is, if the bowl is in Jax, TPA or Mia.

It really doesn't matter if you don't know who is playing; people go primarily because it is the Super Bowl, not because they are fans of a particular team.

Thing is, it is not unusual for all the hotel rooms in a 200 mile radius from the host city to be sold out on SuperBowl weekend. It will affect everything, from hotels to rental car availability to flights.

There are SO MANY hotel rooms in Miami, Fort Lauderdale and the Palm Beaches that I'm skeptical that Orlando gets any kind of rush from the Super Bowl being in Miami. Sure, there will be a few people that fly into and out of Orlando for personal reasons; perhaps to combine the trip with a visit to the Mouse. The Super Bowl was in JAX recently and I didn't notice any increase in traffic around here and Jacksonville is much closer than Miami. Some fans HAD to stay in Orlando due to lack of rooms in Jacksonville. Super Bowl tourists and Orlando tourists are two different animals.

Now the college bowl games are a different story. Of course hotels are mostly sold out in Orlando for the two bowl games played here but there are a lot of out-of-town fans attending the college bowls in Jacksonville, Tampa and Miami that will take the entire week off and include Orlando in their plans. New Year's Eve weekend already fills up the Orlando area and then the bowl games bring in even more people.

Eh... no. I booked hotel, but not airline...am still waiting on DINGs. Driving is our fallback. This is a budget trip so I don't want to spend more than $200 per ticket. I was wondering if I should even count on DINGs given superbowl coming up.

Oh I see....Well I think you are heading back before the super bowl Feb 5 so just keep watching but if I were worried book and then wait for a sale or Ding and rebook...and keep watchinghere because people post about airfare sales.
