Do you think Star Wars movie will sell out?

DH wants to see Star Wars now while we are at WDW. Tickets for AMC at DTD are $10 each! WE can get some discount vouchers but you can't buy tickets with them until you get there of course. We plan to go Friday evening. Could we purchase tickets early that week with discount vouchers? Or should we just buy them at $10 / each... it's only saving $2.50 per ticket anyways.

You might not even be able to use the discount vouchers on Star Wars. I would order them online through a site like fandango.com or moviefone.com. While you might have to pay an additional surcharge (1.00 extra a ticket?), it'll at least guarantee you seats. I have no idea, though, how crowded it would be at Disney. I would think that the AMC theater in Disney wouldn't really be that crowded, but I've only gone to that theater once and it was for a late late night show (at that time it was dead).

It's not likely that you'll be able to use any discount vouchers at Star Wars for the first several weeks. When I saw LOTR there for the third installment, it was running on four screens, and all four were sold out for the first weekend. I'd get your tix in advance if it's important to your DH to see it that weekend. Particularly if you want to go at a specific time.

As an FYI ... tickets for shows before 6pm are cheaper, and won't sell out as quickly. Afternoon shows are a good bet. I'd plan it that way as opposed to a Friday night when it will be PACKED.

Afew of the opening day shows are already sold out. I'd buy tickets now. Remember it's also going to be Star Wars Weekends at the studios, so there will be lots of SW fans afoot! :flower:

Well, if the vouchers are unrestricted I think they would be allowable as opposed to ones that say "can't be used in first 10 days" type of thing. But yeah, those cost $7.50 anyhow and not big savings versus a regular ticket so I guess I should get them ahead of time. The thing about day time shows though is we'll be at the parks or water park and I wouldn't want to take time out of the day to see a movie. At least Friday evening we planned to go to PI that night so why not see the movie before hand.

Is the Pope German??

Ahem. Yes. I do think it is likely to sell out. A lot. Good luck! :sunny:

If that's your plan then you definitely need to purchase your tickets ahead of time, or you're likely to end up either having to purchase tickets to a much later show than you'd like, or you'll be closed out. It will be extremely crowded that Friday night, with Star Wars Weekends going on. In addition to buying tickets ahead of time, plan on being to the theatre at least 60 min before your show time to get in line. If not, you may find yourselves sitting in the first row ...

I think that it will be very crowded and that most shows will sell out; the reviews have been very good for Episode III.

I fully expect for every major theater in every major city to sell out opening weekend for Episode III. It's the one episode that most Star Wars fans have been waiting to see. I and II were just appetizers, this is the main course.

Going to the midnight show too..maybe I'll see you there QuickGold. ;)

We bought tickets for the midnight showing at our local theater through fandango. I'd bet money most theaters will sell out for that showing & the one following. We won't have to stand in line for tickets but we want good seats so I'm sure we'll get there at least a couple of hours before showtime...maybe scout the theater out earlier & if the lines are forming then, we'll go ahead & plop down our lawn chairs in line for the wait. We did this when Episode I came out & had the best time with others in line.

Go to www.movietickets.com and sign up for their Moviewatcher club. That way you can order tickets online and skip the service charges. You will also get discounts and free drink/popcorn/movie ticket rewards each time you get tickets at an AMC theater. We are big Star Wars/Disney fans and are going to the midnight opening night show. It has sold out five screens already at AMC Pleasure Island. I don't know how many screens are going to be showing on Friday, but if you order ahead of time you will have a chance to sit in the big theater with the digital print of the film. AMC PI is one of very few theaters in the SE US that have a digital projection system. The digital print is longer and has rumored scenes of Luke and Joda on Dagobah that the regular screenings don't show. Hope this helps. 8 days to go!

Whether or not it sells out, I have no idea. Am I going to go see it? You better believe it. Am I going on opening weekend? Not a chance.

We will be seeing the movie on Sat. afternoon at DTD AMC. I decided to wait after the big rush. I went ahead and bought the tickets on line to save me some time and energy. It should be awesome!
