Do you think people make things up in their posts?

I have heard of the "trolls" before and I know they exist to stir up trouble.
But I have just noticed in the last few months that there a lot of "problem, dilema, bad stuff, etc" posts. Sometimes I wonder if these posts are made up...other posts too.
I guess I am just seeing a weird "tone/theme" to the CB in the last few months. I guess I must not like it or I wouldn't take the time to post about it.
guess I just fell into the category I am talking about.

But ever notice that no matter how good something is for you there is one person on the DIS who has it better LOL

I would like to think that the incidence of folks making things up is pretty low. (Though, given that some folks seem to relish deception and dishonesty in their interactions with Disney, I'm afraid that my optimism might be misplaced.) As far as a weird "tone/theme" -- I'm afraid one of the most consistent things I've read here over the last seven years is folks saying something just like that -- that things seem to have "changed recently". Nothing has changed; it's pretty much always been as you see it now. Actually, there was a time, a few years ago, when it was a lot worse.

Yup, someone either has it much better off and will gladly tell you all about their luck (money, genus children, vacations etc) not they they are bragging or anything . Or, if you post that your having some sort of mini crisis folks will post that you should count your blessings because their life is sooooo much worse and you have nothing to complain about. You can't win.

Well, I have had people do it right to my face so I'm sure people would make things up on the internet. I have known 2 people in the past who were pathological liars. They told the most outrageous stories that you knew could not possibly be true. They craved attention.

Then there are other people who aren't this extreme but seem to "enhance" their stories beyond the real facts. Everything is just a little bit worse than the way it actually happens. My mom does this at times. I've just gotten used to it.

And then there are the people who really are looking to scam someone.

There are all kinds of people in the world and I'm sure all levels are on the internet too.

Oh yeah

There are the ones that just make up a huge "story" to start a trainwreck. Then there are the ones who are genuinely upset about something. They come on here, post their story and if WE are not sufficiently upset for their liking.....their story gets "worse" and "worse".

Either way, it is good entertainment!

Its not that I don't believe that people have problems...I know they do. We all do.
Its just that some posts just seem like they are trying for shock value or something. or just attention maybe.
there is just something wrong with some posts...can't put my finger on it.

I do think the boards have changed....at least the posters have. I hardly see names I recognize from the old days. this is not to say that change is bad.

one person asked why some would lie on the internet....because they can with no ramifications. they can be who they want....not who they are.

sometimes I can't figure out why people post the things they do...so personal sometimes.
