Do you think it's gross to wash baby bottles in the hotel bathroom?

We won't be in a hotel with a kitchen. Do you think the kitchen and bathroom water are the same? Do you think it's ok?

Someone suggested on another thead disposible (sp?)sippy cups but I can't find them in Canada

Another idea is the bottles that come with disposable plastic liners, if you can find those. We traveled with our son quite a bit when he was a baby, and I always did wash his bottles in the hotel sink. Bring some dish liquid with you- Dawn makes some great disposable dish cloths with soap in them that I use now when we travel, to wash out sippy cups. I run the water as hot as I can get it, and set the bottles on a towel to dry. You could also bring a bottle brush with you, as these fit pretty easily into a suitcase.

As long as you're not using water from the toilet you'll be fine ;) . Seriously, the water in a kitchen, bathroom sink and shower all come from the same source. We've been on many vacations with DD and I've always washed her cups and bottles in the bathroom sink. One thing that I've done if our room has a coffee maker is to run water through it so that it's really hot and used it to wash the cups.

Just glad I won't be the only one and was worried slighly there. Thanks!

we do it all the time - do remember to pack some washing up liquid (those cloths are great, they were in our villa last year), and a bottle brush is very useful too.

Just put them in the dishwasher in the bathroom. You open the lid, place them inside, and pull the handle and the bottles are automatically rinsed and swished around.:p In actuality, I think its fine to wash the bottles in the sink. The waters all the same, and you use it to rinse your toothbrush and such anyway.

The last time we went to disney we brought dish washing liquid, a bottle brush ,the bottle drying rack and a tupperware container to put some hot soapy water in . This worked great and I didn't have to worry how clean the sink was .I just soaked the bottles in the clean tupperware container full of soapy water, washed them and put them on the bottle drying rack .

We did it 3 weeks ago at Port Orleans Riverside. We heated water in the coffee pot (at Port Orleans Riverside) to add to the water in the sink and soaked the bottles for awhile but I think the regular hot water from the tap would of been okay too. Don't forget to bring dish detergent and a bottle brush!

How old is the baby using these bottles? I guess if he/she is a newborn, or has immuno-deficient problems, I'd be concerned about sterilization, but after a few months, isn't it OK to just wash the bottles, etc, like you would anything else?

I mean, it's actually beneficial for the infant's developing immune system to be exposed to things, so that the immune system actually gets to be stimulated. Children living in extremely sterile environments end up with whacked-up immune systems.

If you're going to brush your teeth with tap water, wash with it, take a shower in it, it's definitely safe enough to wash bottles in. And unless they use an entirely separate water system for the toilet, the water going into the toilet is just as safe! It all comes from the same place! (as CEDmom stated)

Besides, we all have to eat our "pound of dirt" before we grow up, as my mom used to say, LOL!

In another post the OP said her baby will be turning one during their trip.

I saw some in WalMart the other day...we're in NS...they were the upgraded "gladware" kind (and I think Glad is coming out with some as well) ...I think they were Playtex brand...3 or 4 to a pkg.

Are they the ones you mean?

HTH!!

I bought some of those disposable sippy cups for my trip last year and wasn't thrilled with them. They are MUCH harder to drink from than a regular sippy cup.

We used these cloths that have dish soap already in them to wash the bottles in the sink. they come in a packet thats easy to pack they are polmolive wipes you can find them at Wal-mart.

I think the OP was referring to the First Years Take 'n Toss cups. My ds loves them and I like them because if one gets lost, I didn't just "throw away" $3-4 on a lost cup. You can also get them in the baby aisle at most grocery stores. We bought some at the Publix near our resort when we were there in May.

HTH!
