Do you think I'm moving too much?

So we decided to go to Disney for Christmas this year. We went in 2007 and I/we loved it. We liked Osbourne lights the decorations and my wife loved the candlelight Processional. My birthday is Christmas Day and I like spending it at Disney :santa:.

We own at SSR so I booked 10 days from 12/24 - 01/03. I have never stayed there and always wait till the 7 mos window and change the reservation. Through my constant calling I was able to get 12/24-12/29 at BWV in a studio and wait list for the rest.

Today I called and Jan 1 and 2 were open at BLT. I disccussed with the family. DD and DD don't care as long as they are at Disney and DW said she would not mind staying at BLT. Unfortunally by the time I called back the 1st was gone so I was able to book a 1bdr for the BCV.

Am I moving to much? I done a split stay before and know the drill but is this too much? We will be 5 days at BWV, 3 at SSR and 2 at BCV. We love the Epcot and MK area and If I had it to do over I would have skiped the bonus points and bought at BCV in the first place.

There is still hope my waitlist will come through LOL.:rotfl2:

We just did the same thing this past May, 3 resorts in 10 days. Let me say, it was one move too many. We did 3 at BWV, 4 at SSR and 3 at AKL. The last move was one too many in my family's opinion. It just wasted too much time packing and we lived out of our suitcases. I have 2 DDs also 11 and 8. They packed their own belongings and we packed light since we had washer/dryers, but still it was just too much.

I do not own at SSR. We own at AKL. Let me tell you, try SSR. We stayed 2x with DP and absolutely love it. Request the Grandstand Area. Nice quiet pool, with pool bar and water play area for the girls. Close to the Springs area and the first bus stop for pick up and drop off. Love, love, love it there!

Thanks for the reply. My DDs are 12 and 9. How do I request the Grandstand area?

Just call MS and tell them to add the request to your reservation. IMO, the 8000 building is the best in the Grandstand area, but any in that area is great. If it were me, I would stay at SSR for the remainder of your trip to not have to move the last time.

Not at all. Last year before Christmas we stayed at SSR, VWL, and BWV in a 4 night stay. We really enjoyed it. Of course it depends on your family, which parks you visit, etc., but we don't feel it is too much at all!
We are of the opinion that it will become more and more difficult to book anywhere BUT your home resort in the future so we will continue to try others-we own at BWV-as long as we can. And we actually love staying at SSR once in a while which, as is being discussed on another thread, some complain is the ONLY thing available at 7 months most of the year.

But for us we like moving from resort to resort. :thumbsup2 We normal stay as little as 5 days to as much as 15 days at the World :cool1:and we have never stayed at any resort for more than 4 days. :goodvibesWe love them all and if I could, I would be like DVC Mike and own points at each. :dance3:They all have special qualities we enjoy! However we always rent a car and it's very easy to pick up, load the auto and go to the new resort. A couple of times we had Disney move us and that is just as easy but we don't have access to our luggage until we get a room at the new resort.:sad1:

Stay at one resort for the entire time.... that's so sad!!:scared1: And so boring.:rotfl2:

You are visiting during the busiest time of the year. I hope I am wrong, but I doubt that any waitlist that includes NYE will come through.

Occupancy is going to be very high, so you will be without a room from check out to at least 4 pm on moving days. Also, that means Bell Services will probably be very busy, too, so your luggage transfers may be delayed. The parks will be very crowded, so you will need to plan for somewhere besides your room to have a little downtime if you need it on moving days.

I don't like to move and do not ever recommend it to anyone with young children.

I think moving more than once during the busiest week of the year is too much.

But some like to move. If it works for you, then go for it.

I hate to move. I want to unpack and stay unpacked until it's time to go home. Being homeless for the day you have to move is frustrating.

We moved into a villa a Jan 1 and didn't get into the villa until almost 6PM because the occupants didn't vacate the villa and had a massive party in the villa on NYE. When they finally got the squatters out of the villa, it took several housekeepers on overtime to get the villa cleaned up. And they were sold out as well so there wasn't another villa to move us to.

Plus these weren't the only squatters on the property. I heard from the resort manager that they had at least six to ten other villas where they were trying to get people out so others could move into the villa. That was at 5PM on Jan 1.

I agree that it's the time of the year, more than moving per se that would cause me to answer "yes, I think you're moving too much!" I would do a BWV/SSR stay (assuming that SSR has those last 2 nights open) and leave it like that.

Thank you all for the replies so far. I think I will keep what I have for now. We don't mind being homeless for a little while and what better place to do it than BCV. When we move we usually pack a small bag to stash at bell svs at the new place with swimsuits etc. I am really looking to New Years at Disney so anything we end up with will be fine.

IMHO that's too many moves. After our trip June 13-20, I wouldn't want to move at ALL ever again.

Changing rooms was not fun, and took a large part of the day. We went from 2 studios to a 2BR. I did online check in before we left home, picked up our new packets and keys at 9 AM the morning we changed rooms.

We waited at SAB because we needed to make a grocery run after our room was ready, and didn't want to waste time traveling to/from a park. We couldn't go to the store while we waited, because we bought cold & frozen items and didn't know if the room would be ready at 1:00, 5:00, or later.

Our room was ready at 1:00, which is really early, but it's still such a hassle to pack, scour the room for forgotten stuff, get new parking tags & keys, and then have to unpack & put everything away again.

Plus you have to tip each time! :rotfl:

I say do it. Especially if you have never stayed at those resorts. This way you will be able to maore resorts in fewer stays so once you have tried them all, you will know which your favorite is and book full stays there in the future. :thumbsup2

Ok, I could have written this myself, including the DVC Mike comment ;). We loooove split stays and have never stayed at one resort more than 5 days. Our last one was this past May, we were there for 10 days and we did CSR 2 nights, AKV 2 nights, BWV 5 night with a 6 month old :scared1:. z:scared1:You just have to be organized, I packed one bag for the first 5 days and another bag for the last five. We let Disney move our stuff and drove our rental car to the next resort, check in and head to a park while we waited for our room to be ready. Everytime you move to a different resort, you feel like you are starting your vacation all over again. My advice, waitlist your 3 days at SSR for either BWV or BCV so that you only have to move twice. Have fun!

I forgot to add for our next trip we are doing VWL and BLT, now we are thinking of adding CSR to the beggining of our trip for at least 2 nights. See, I told you we love split stays!

Exactly!! The tipping can really add up with the moves. Tip to pick up, tip to dropoff and if you have any valuables like electronics, etc you have those to worry about.
Plus you do not know what the weather will be like. It can be freezing cold and has during Christmas break. SAB would be pretty much out if the weather is bad. There are places to hang out, but there is something about being homeless and waiting that makes my kids and dh miserable, so I try to avoid it as much as possible.
You need

remember to plan accordingly if you are using the Dining Plan-- one stop when you move -- and if you are not then you will have to move groceries each time-- We did it once -- WLV to AKL and it was a lost day no fun and missing items

We don't mind moving if there is no other way, but what I don't like is that you are basically homeless for a full day. You have to be out by 11:00 and probably won't get in your new home until 4:00 or even later, so unless you have definite plans to be in the Parks the entire day, with no break, you won't have anyplace to go take a break, unless it is the lobby. Also, if the moves are early on in the trip, it isn't so bad, but I like to eventually get settled and not be living out of a suitcase.

We just came back from a 13 day trip with moving twice... BWV/AKV/VERO.

By our second move we were sick of it! Our packing and unpacking was getting real sloppy and quite a task!

But the first move, I really liked!! I loved having a new place to look forward to and it kind of "refreshed" the trip. We had our car so we packed up and headed out a little after 10. We went to Epcot had lunch at Teppen Edo and walked around. We arrived at AKV around 3 and our room was ready. I really did not feel like we "missed" a day nor did I feel "homeless" (I think having our stuff in our car helped with that).

Thanks for all the responses. Last time I had 8 days at BCV and ended up spliting and having 4 at BCV and 4 at VWL. I wished I would have kept the BCV sinced we ended up liking that better. I hope my waitlist comes in.
