Do you think I was wrong?

Please tell me if I was in the wrong.
Of course you were wrong, and I can't help thinking that you MUST "get it" (because how could someone NOT??) and are just stirring the pot. JMHO

And if you don't get it, I hope you don't go to the same movie theater I do in RI. Just sayin'.

I'm with the majority on this one. The OP was 100% wrong! Talking in the movie theater is just plain rude.

:scared1: Are you serious? Yes you were wrong. Plus your son is not a baby - he's 9 he can understand that you don't talk when a movie is playing. You are not at home you are in a theater.
Save the ?'s for after the movie.

You were wrong... I get people taken out of the theatre when they won't stop talking. People pay way too much to have to sit through a movie listening to ANYONE talk.

Yes, you were wrong.

NOTE TO SELF: Others have paid good money to enjoy the movie in the theater. Talking (except for a few quiet comments), touching the back of a person's seat, even loud unmoderated chomping and slurping, should be avoided.

Yes, you were wrong. Next time, rent it. It is not fair for the rest of the audience who paid big bucks to enjoy the movie to have it ruined by your son. It was a very good opportunity to teach your son that you need to respect the rest of the audience.

You were a million percent WRONG. You should have moved to somewhere in the theater FAR from anyone else, or taught your son how to be quiet in a movie theater. You could have left and explained thing then gone to a different showing. The theaters do give refunds. I have done it before. There are a thousand things that you could have done that would have been better than what you did. If I had been the guy you were bugging, I would have gone to management and had you moved or removed.

Ok, see I thought this was a joke. Talking out loud in a movie theater without even trying to whisper, and has to ask if they were wrong?

OMG-thank goodness everyone agrees on this one! Dh, me, ds11, and dd9 went to see this Sat. night. By the time we ate supper, bought snacks and paid to see the movie, I was down $130!!!!! My kids had never seen any of the movies either, and asked questions the whole way home, but never said a word during the movie! I can't imagine thinking this was ok!

Friday night I took my DS9 to see Star Trek. DS has not seen any of the others, and was full of questions. As soon as the movie started he was firing questions off one after the other. About 5 minutes into the movie, the person (I'd love to call him something else...) turned and asked if DS could stop asking questions. My reply was "NO, he is asking questions about the movie." I was rather annoyed at his tone. Unfortunately it's not possible to convey his tone. I then told him, "you are welcome to move it's bothering you much." ********'s wife then asked nicely if he could wisper. Which I replied politely "sure." The rest of the movie went without incident.

Look, I am sort of a Trekky myself, but I was set off by this ********. Please tell me if I was in the wrong.

You were totally in the wrong. ;) That's the problem with asking this question on the DIS; everybody will be happy to jump in and tell you.

Oh heck yes you were wrong.

You and your son and very rude, I'm sorry.

Boy, you set a baaad example for trekkies!! :lmao:

Please tell us this was a joke! ;)

I expect to hear some talking if I'm at a kid's movie. I would not expect to hear talking if I went to see Star Trek. Everyone is paying the same amount to see the movie. No paying customer's experience should be ruined by someone talking.

I think you were extremely wrong with your response. I taught my son at an early age that the theater says "Silence is Golden" for a reason. That means no talking, no cell phones, no crying babies!

maybe you should have shown your son the older movies and given him the opportunity to ask questions in the privacy of your home. This is what we did with our son when he was little and the Star Wars prequels started coming out. I would be very upset if I asked someone to please not talk and then have them respond to me the way you did that man. Very rude!

Of course you were in the wrong.

I could understand a child quietly asking an occasional question right into your ear, but non-stop from the moment the movie started? No, that's way off base.

What if everyone in the theater held conversations, even quietly, throughout a movie? It would sound more like a cocktail party than a movie viewing. You have to think of things that way, sometimes. If it's ok for one person, then it's okay for everyone. And THEN what???

I'm sure, on a message board somewhere, the guy is posting about the "lady" who allowed her son to talk throughout the entire movie and told him, in no uncertain terms, that they would NOT be quiet.

Imagine this thread in reverse. You go to a movie and some little kid in a PG-13 movie, won't stop yapping. The mother tells YOU to move if you don't like little junior's incessant questioning. I'm sure in that case, this board would jump all over the mother.

So yep - you were wrong. Next time rent it.

Boy, you set a baaad example for trekkies!! :lmao:

Yes. He was totally in the wrong.

Actually, I can't believe someone was really a Trekkie if their child had not seen any of the films (and/or shows) by the time they were 9. :scared1:

Well, it's a good thing she did...apparently SOMEONE had to tell her. ::yes::
