Long post ahead....I can not sleep. I was sound asleep and felt a tap on my hand. I thought it was my husband so I sat up and said "What?" but he was sleeping. I could then hear the dogs downstairs fighting. I was woken because it wanted me to take care of the situation I guess.
When we first moved here almost 5 yrs ago we would keep finding button grommets. We would find them in the strangest places. Handfulls of them.:confused3 The room we call the pink room would smell of a flowery perfume sometimes. My youngests room would always be warm even though he was on the north side of the building. The rest of the house is cold. We have since began renovating the upstairs and found layers of hand painted nursery paper. One time my youngest came into my room and tried to wake me but I was so tired I could not stay awake to hear what he needed until I was tapped several times on my leg and then pinched. I thought it was him but he was laying head to head w/ me. He had a fever and had peed himself.
One time I was bent over picking up my husbands laundry nagging him about how he needs to pick up after himself. I heard footsteps behind me and grumbling. I turned around saying to my husband; "Don't you talk to me that way." But there was no one there. Sometimes we hear footsteps or a door opening from the outside and footsteps in the back room. We have a dimmer switch on our chandelier in our living room, sometimes the light goes up and down. When we first moved here our nieghbor asked us if we believe in ghosts. I asked why and he told us about his aunt dying in the house. There was also a graveyard that was in our back yard that was relocated. (There's a large church across the street. My nieghbor said that when it flooded one time he found antique boots. He thinks they did not get all the bodies because long ago many graves were never marked. I was a skeptic till I moved here. But not anymore. Usually it is only unsettling. I love this old house, sometimes it just freaks me out.We have tried to find people that specialize in the super natural but they all live too far away to come to this small Iowa town. Have any of you had any experiences? Now it feels they are part of the family. I know that probably sounds crazy but if it happened to you no telling how you would react.

Uh.....Yeah I do. :rotfl2: The second I heard "graveyard in back" :scared: the "FOR SALE" sign would have gone up in front. :lmao:

Yes, I think so. I think it is a woman, it just feels that way. The man is the one that is a prankster and creeps me out the most. Sometimes I feel that he is unhappy. At one point we thought we had a child here too but it has been over a yr since there has been anything happen that would make us think so. We have an uneven wood floor in our living room. One day my husband saw our dogs ball move up and down (or back and forth) the slope.
My oldest said he saw him on the stairs once sitting w/ his face in his hands. I don't know if that is true though as my oldest says he sees/hears more than we do. Could be just a drama thing w/ him, he was 16 at the time and going through a drama period. LOL

I totally believe. I have had a ghost following me since I was a child. I assume it is my grandmother who passed away when I was 3. Currently we have "gram" and a cat that insists on jumping on the bed and purring at about 3 am every morning. My living cat sleeps with my son in a closed room so I know it is not her. I have just been adopted by a ghostly cat. I would love to attend one of those ghost walks they do all over but can't because I know I would end up with more house guests.

DS 8 has seen ghosts since he was a baby. It use to freak him out, sometimes still does. I think he is just more use to it now and doesn't talk about it. DH is a non believer so we don't tend to talk about it much.

Incidently, DS will not go on T of T because he claims he saw something other than the "disney ghosts". So I tend to believe those rumours of real ghosts on the ride.

Dh was a skeptic too. No matter how many things were happening he would deny. But one day I said "there have just been too many coincidents" (sp?) and he agreed and told me other things that had happened. Now he openly admits to me when something happens.Nobody wants to look like a fool.

You should contact Ghost Hunters. I think they are looking for new places to investigate.

I second contacting TAPS (the ones on the Ghost Hunters show). They are in Rhode Island, but they've gone all over the US, and even to Ireland, to hunt ghosts. Even if they can't get to you, they have other Taps family societies in other states, so one of them might be able to help you. Their website is http://the-atlantic-paranormal-society.com/. Good luck to you!

I do believe in ghosts, always have. A few months ago, I was driving down the interstate with DD2, out of nowhere I smelled Ivory soap in my car. I have NEVER bought Ivory soap. My Grandparents are the only people I've ever known to use it. They both died last year. I don't know, maybe they were with me that day.

I think you should call Ghost Hunters. How cool would that be if your house was on TV, let us know if it is.

I do believe in ghosts and have seen them as well. What I don't believe, however, is that ghosts lurk in every old house, in every corner. I like the tv shows (and I can't remember who they are) where the ghost hunters are perfectly willing to explain away what some people think are supernatural events and that they acknowledge that they don't always find ghosts.

I believe in them, but luckily I haven't actually encountered any for myself.

We bought our home 12+ years ago. There was an elderly man named Bo that lived 2 houses down from us. Very nice man, but kind of like the mayor of the street. Always had to know what was going on kind of guy. One day he was supposed to go fishing with the mother of the neighbor behind him, but Bo never showed up. The neighbor in between he & us had a key to Bo's house. Bo was found dead in his kitchen clutching his telephone. He died of a heartattack.

About 3-5 years later friends of ours bought Bo's house. Bo's daughter had lived in it for a while & then decided to sell. Our friends say every so often they hear things. One of the things they most consistly hear is a man's voice around the kitchen saying things like "must get to the phone" & "got to hurry". It used to scare them, but nothing but that kind of stuff has happened so they're pretty much used to it now.

I absolutely believe. I used to be unsure about it, but the radio station where I work part time has turned me into a believer. Some of the things that have happened may have other reasons behind them than the supernatural, but when you keep seeing the same person all over the building, and I mean looking straight at them for a good amount of time, then how else do you explain it? And then to find out from another coworker that the description matches a former employee who worked there a good 10 years or more before I started and passed away around the same time I started seeing him?

The best way I can describe what the ghosts (I've seen another besides the guy above) is, you know when the light is just right that you can see your reflection in glass? Maybe a window or big door. You can see most of the detail, and if you concentrate your eyes certain ways you can look at that detailed reflection or you can look right through and past it. That's what the two ghosts I've seen remind me of. And yes, I've seen them when there have been windows, but I've also seen them in windowless hallways, no reflective surfaces anywhere.

nope. don't believe in that junk. Sorry but there is ALWAYS a clear cut explantion for all of it.

People want to believe, and they ignore the facts and real reasons

With a doubt I believe. I think your experience sounds neat, and echo contacting TAPS.

Okay fine-i used to be exactly the same way-but then i took a job that involved working in a building that had been a military hospital from before world war II until the mid 80's. Now i am absolutely a believer. i had a number of experiences in the year and a half before we moved from that location to change my mind.-in some of the cases i was not the only witness to the phenomenon-and people who were and still are complete non-believers saw the same thing and couldnt explain it. We tended to think that the fellow occupants of the building were not either malovolent or friend spirits but rather people who were trapped there because they had unfinished business due to the way they passed on.

I'm unsure, but pretty sure. I have a photo I took of a hotel in NH which had burned down. Once developed there was a ghost in the window:scared1: I'll have to dig out the photo and then ask for help in attaching it.

Also, my ds3 has constantly told me "spooky upstairs" and is convinced there is a ghost upstairs. We do not talk about ghosts or even watch scary movies in the house, so where he's getting that is anyone's business. I've also encountered several instances in the past month which has me convinced. 1. I was home alone waiting for ds9 to come home from school. I was in the basement doing laundry and could clearly hear footsteps walking around upstairs-there was NOBODY HOME. 2. Several days later we lost power during a wind storm in the middle of the night. I got up to check the kids and to look for a flashlight when my kitchen floor became illuminated with sparkling lights (CAN ANYONE OFFER ANY EXPLANTION?). I was sooo creeped out I wanted to check into a hotel. Every light in the neighborhood was out and my kitchen is in the back of the house. There was no moonlightr and every blind I had was closed in the house. Only the kitchen floor was doing this, the kitchen is off a mudroom and bathroom, but floors were fine. I'm still trying to figure that one out! 3. There have been sudden cold bursts of air blowing through the living room no matter what the weather. 4. Oh and the worst (other than the lights) is I hear a crying baby faintly. We have no babies at all in the neighborhood.

More people have seen ghosts than have seen other things that they absolutely believe in. Ghosts do exist and I hope to be one someday, but not too soon... ;)
