Do you think DL will get FP+?

I'm planning a wdw vacation this year, and I can't help but notice how much easier it is to go to DLR. Do you think there's a chance they'll keep the legacy fast pass system there since so many visitors are locals? Planning 6 months ahead for dining and 2 months ahead for fast pass rides is a little much, imo. I'm hoping they keep things as they are at DL.

They have said MM+ is coming to DLR in 2016. I honestly don't think they want to risk any rollout issues in the midst of the 60th anniversary.

:( Bummer. I haven't tried FP+ yet, but the old system seemed more spontaneous to me. Thanks for the info.

We're making our first WDW trip, too. FP+ and ADRs already booked. It certainly is a different mindset and way of doing things, isn't it?

I think that some type of FP+ will come to DLR, but I don't think it will be the same system as WDW. DL is too small and too urban for that. Too many locals visit the parks on a drop in or spur of the moment basis for Disney to 'shut them out' of FP by having them all snatched 30-60 in advance by tourists or others with advance reservation making capabilities.

Kiosks and MagicBands, yep. Advance FP+ for Resort Hotel guests, probably.

The only thing I think DL could use is the magic bands and gateless entry. That is one thing that wow'ed my family at our 1st visit to WDW. It was SO much easier and faster getting into the parks compared to Disneyland. There were glitches of course, but there was always someone there with an iPad that resolved it. Still faster than the DL process of taking photos, signing tickets, etc.

I just visited WDW last month, and found My Disney Experience (MDE) to be very helpful.

Some parts of MDE can easily be brought to DLR, linking reservations (hotel and dining) with tickets.
Magic Bands and FP+ would come much later, if at all.

Obviously you haven't seen my Trip Ticker, Mom! ;) We are headed out there in just over a month.

LOL, I didn't even read it! You'll have an awesome time. I sure hope it doesn't turn out to be a last hurrah. :(

We just did our ADRs too (FP+ not available for a few months). Getting up at 3:45 to be ready to call at 4 a.m. was an experience. I've been to WDW a few times, so I know about the advance planning. But one of the many things I love about DLR is that currently, there is no need. Maybe FP+ wouldn't change that, esp if the only people who book in advance are resort guests. Still, I do love to work the FP and single rider system . . .

I'll bet that when MM+ comes to DL there will be a number of significant changes. I'll guess we'll get MagicBands and MDE, and some sort of FP+. But I'll bet that FP+ will be different. You've got so many casual visitors to DL, AP holders and locals who roll out of bed in the morning and say, "I think I'll head to DL today." Not that Orlando doesn't have ANY, but simply not as many.

I'm guessing since park hopping is so darn easy that they will let us make FP+ in both parks on the same day. I, for one, would love to be able to ride Radiator Springs Racers without standing outside the CA gates at 6:50am.

I used it in WDW last year and I thought it was great. I would love it at DL but as some says to would have to be different, my thought different in dining, you don't have to book six months out because resturaunts don't usually fill up. But to me fp+ would work great for those of us who don't live there and visit for a day like locals do. Locals can choose to go on less busy days, times of year. ( don't take this wrong because I'm sure locals spend just as much, just more spread out over time). But those of us who fly, book hotels and spend thousands, would be able to book our rides in advance. When we did WDW in March last year, we were able to change our fast passes if we wanted to, there were still openings. I remember one day we were in epcot, soaring was only a 10 min wait, but out FP was three hours away. We hopped in line, did soaring and then went and asked to change our FP to test trak and was able to ride that about 2 hours later, when we would have been in line for soaring. We did changes maybe 5 times during our 12 day visit and never had a problem, so I don't know why people say they can't get a same day fast pass. I will admits one times you may have to go back and ask again, since people cancel all the time but it was very doable. I also found the whole system very easy to use. No more carrying tickets, fastpasses, money, or anything. I don't have to check 15 times to make sure I didn't lose my ticket, I don't have to check money to see that I brought it, I don't have to remember things, because I can always walk up to a gr and ask what is on my band for the day. All I have to do is remember what park to show up for.

There are two really big beefs with me and it is the DAS and FP systems, and each park has the opposite problem. In WDW you can set up fastpasses in advance, but for DAS you have to go to the ride to get a time back. In DL you have to walk to the ride to get a FP, but for DAS you can go to any kiosk and get a time, and you can do it for either park. So you can be in DL and ask for a time for RS in dca, then have lunch on your way over and be able to hop on when your done. I like the kiosk, in both parks but they have to work for everything, walk up tell them what you want and your in, you don't have to walk a mile out of the way to get a FP for three hours later, especially in DL where the rides are so clumped together, you go to splash and get your fastpass, you can't just ride what is near there, because you would need a FP for HM, Indy, jungle cruise, BTM, POTC, so basically your stuck walking all the way back to buzz or too town, and then walking all the way back to get on splash. Then do it all again for HM.to much work for me on busy days, much more work than planning ahead two months in advance. I would be able to get a fast pass for splash, Indy and BTM, three hours apart, and hope that I could wait in short lines for hm, jungle and POTC. If you do it all in the morning, you could get all done in 3 hours, by going to the other rides in between since they in morning would not usually be more than 20 minutes.

I think it would work great for me.

I'd like the gateless entry and being able to charge my credit card from the Magic Band. I'd even be happy with Magic Band-linked Fast Passes, but I can't imagine having to plan a DL trip six months out for meals and rides. I'd be okay (sort of) with the 60 day ADR, but shutting locals out of Fast Passes seems much more likely to happen at DLR than WDW because of the nature of the two parks.

Keep in mind that Magic Bands does not necessarily equal FP+. It has been announced that DLR is getting Magic Bands in 2016. There have been no announcements regarding whether they will get FP+.

I hope they bring it in some capacity we really enjoyed it our last trip to WDW.

I hope that they change it greatly if they do! I really didn't like the planning aspect of it for our recent WDW trip. It took so much of the fun out of it for me, as the planner. My DH liked it, but he didn't do any of the work. Same with my kids. For me, it added stress to a vacation. It will be a while before we return, but we are getting APs this year for DLR because it's so great to visit unplanned. I can actually relax and enjoy.

Side note, but I really hated the look of those bands in all my photos of my kids dressed in their nice Disney costumes. They look really tacky.

The biggest problem with FP+ at DLR is logistical. At WDW it seems almost all the attractions have FP+, but to do that at DL would cause walkways to become dangerously overcrowded.

I'm sure they'll get FastPass+ eventually, but I assume they will tailor some aspects to the local market, as they should.

I miss my ADR's, magic band, dining plan, and Fast Pass+ when I'm at DLR. We didn't get to ride Radiator Springs Racer :(
