Do you think Disney will ever add another Magic Kingdom hotel?

Behind Magic Kingdom seems like a lot of unused land when I drove there to get to the Grand Floridian. Do you think Disney will ever make another hotel back there and a back entrance into the Magic Kingdom?

You never know. There's a lot of land that might not be able to be used for various reasons. For example, they can't build a hotel in the Seven Seas Lagoon area because the water level is too high. So maybe it's for a similar reason, lack of resources, finances, etc.

I bet they will take down the CR's south wing and build another BLT building.

There are some trade offs they have to do with some of the land. For all the area they use they have to give some back unused. (in a simplified version) So may be are they can't use for that

Ha, I was just wondering about this a few days ago and was going to start a thread, but you beat me to it. I would like to think there will some day be a Magic Kingdom hotel. There's a Disneyland Hotel in CA, so it would make sense to have a MK one. A private entrance into the park would be heavenly. What would be even better is if the monorail stopped IN Magic Kingdom like it does in Disneyland. ETA-Whoops, I misread the title. I thought you said "I wonder if there will ever be a Magic Kingdom hotel."

I had come across this on YouTube a few months back. Not sure where he got his facts, but I found it interesting about what hotels they once were going to build there.

I clicked on this thread to post this exact video! I guess great minds think alike! OP definitely watch it, if you haven't already, it explains a lot!

Wow, that was interesting. I think that adding another MK resort woudl be nice, and adding a monorail loop through the Mk would be incredible. I wish I saw it happening, but I think that Disney has determined that teh monorail is not worthy of updating and upgrading, and that the best way to build resorts is to sell DVC units.

Stranger things have happened...no one saw these gondolas coming.....until they filed the plans. If those work out, I could totally see them putting in a hotel on the other side of Floridian way and making a back entrance.

Believe me, I will not complain if they do. I truly wish that Disney would allocate funds to upgrade the monorail, and would gladly look forward to another monorail or MK resort to stay at. I am not a fan of increasing DVC units while removing resort rooms. I understand why this is occurring, but I don't like it.

dvc units pay back within a year (after the place is completed) - resorts rooms take a much longer time. Now it is not a back door - but the annual pass entry line has saved me time. go to Epcot they have a back door entry for the Epcot resorts room.

I just cant understand the continuous building of new hotels and the lack of the building of a new park.....so many people in limited space
I agree that they should be building a 5th park sometime soon with how crowded it is now. But hotel rooms are pretty limited lately where I've been struggling to find a room for my dates and that's never happened to me before. I think part of the problem is they keep getting rid of hotel rooms for the DVC rooms and it cuts down on inventory.

There's room for a resort:

1. In between the TTC and Contemporary
2. North of the Grand Floridian, in between Floridian Way and the canal to the west of MK
3. North of the Contemporary (in addition to building DVC to replace the convention center or garden wing, which I wouldn't consider a new hotel)
4. In between Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness on Bay Lake (technically this would be classified as an "MK area" resort)

It could be that each of these areas aren't very suitable to build on, but the location is so prime that eventually it will be worth it to make them suitable. It could be dozens of years away, but I'd bet that all of those locations are built on at some point. We know that they have had some level of planning for spots 1 and 4 at least in the past.

As far as behind MK, I feel like eventually they are going to expand MK out around the Rivers of America like they are currently doing with Star Wars Land at Disneyland. I don't see them ever putting hotels back there because it limits the best area they have for expansion.
