Do You think DISNEY has gone down hlll the last few years?

Apparently you can take the photo with Mickey with your own camera if you wish, so it isn't necessary to pay the $30 unless you want to. That doesn't change the fact that if this is a permanent change, Mickey will no longer come to your table.

I would assume other characters will be coming around besides the main mouse, right?

LOL! My 5 year old thinks those pictures are "a ripoff"

She is so funny. She would be pretty ticked not to have Mickey come to her table. We will be skipping Chef Mickeys until that is remedied ~ which I am sure it will be. I mean he is THE main attraction! Pfft.

Hey Suellen!!

Your poor child! Sheesh. Kids love to "interact" with the friendly, fuzzy, characters, that's the thrill of the character meals! Kids LOVE them! Someone mentioned that they aren't having characters walk around because they want to hurry up and "MOVE" tables quicker. In other words get the guests in and get them out! It's probably true. I noticed the get em in and get em out at Ohana. They couldn't bring us the food fast enough. They were bringing 2nd and 3rd courses while we were still on the first course. My husband did say something about that though. LOL!

Anyway this is a real shame for children! Unbelievable.

BRING BACK CHEF MICKEY!!!!!!

It's funny because we are IN and OUT of character meals in less than an hour ~ and we meet all the characters at LEAST once. :confused3 I have NO IDEA why people are there up to 2.5 hours??? It does NOT make sense to me. Part of my rationalization of CM's was we get to meet the key 5 characters without waiting in line AND get to enjoy a meal while we do it. So what if it takes an hour? CS takes us at LEAST 45 minutes to get everyone organized, ordered, condimented, sitting and eat. So through ONE character meet and greet line for 15 minutes and bam! Quicker to do the character meal.

Not if Mickey isn't coming around though.

I also wonder if part of it is the wait times to get sat at CM's lately. Perhaps you won't notice how long you waited for your table if you are waiting in line and then meeting Mickey? I doubt it is about the $30 picture.. because I think only the SAME people who bought it before will buy it now.. :confused3

hI dONUT~

Maybe you or Suellen would know. We will be going to Boston for a wedding September 25th for a long weekend. Do you know any great places to get lobster??

thanks!
Brunette:wizard:

I recommend Anthony's Pier 4 or KingFish at Faneuil Hall. But to be honest, anywhere in Boston you are guaranteed a great lobster!
HTH and Enjoy your stay!

HI Flicx!

You know I am not sure. The last time I was at Chef Mickey's was 1989! LOL! But, anyway, based on my link above people are very upset that Mickey will not circulate around the tables and interact with the children. I have no idea if other characters will be around or not. Good question. But children go there because of the star of the show, which is MICKEY MOUSE! And $30.00 for the photo's are ridiculous. As another poster stated if they sold the photo's for half the price they would sell more pictures! Children, in my opinion, though love to interact with these characters.

Boy I can't imagine a character breakfast where characters don't walk around. That would suck the magic right out of the air for me.I've never been to chef mickeys but at the garden grill my son and niece and nephew enjoyed the interaction at the tables during the ice cream socials we went to years ago.I hope this isn't gonna be a trend as I think another little piece of magic for kids I fear will be lost!

I didn't see your question. My advise would be to skip anything that looks like a chain and seek out someplace that LOOKS like a place you wouldn't eat. They usually have the best local food!

Hey Suellen!

You make alot of valid points there. I think people LOVE to linger maybe to get their money's worth!?? Eat, linger, eat some more, linger...?? But I'm with you it makes perfect sense you go eat, meet the characters and your out of there and going back to the parks/hotel/pool whatever. Good point.

The only TS we are doing next week is the new Pizzeria in Italy. Other than that we are on QS dining. Be sure to check out my TR starting Sunday afternoon! I'll be posting Live with food pictures and what the actual cost of each meal is to see if we "break even" with the QS dining (btw I know we will!)

We skipped it last time too ~ but really CM is the one my DD's think they meet Mickey at and that is really the only reason they want to go there. DD5 is a foodie and would prefer something with better food. She is a food snob.

That's funny! I agree! Those little 'dives' have the best food!

Hey Flicx! I totally agree with ya! I mean Disney is for the kids!! Us adults love Disney too, but children really love the character interaction, especially when your eating a meal and characters come over, people get a kick out of this type of "magic".

Why didn't you tell us!? We'll miss you! LOL!

Listen, have a great TRIP! I know you will.

Give us all the news of what's new, exciting, or not so exciting.

Have a Wonderful Time!!

Wish I was going.

Brunette, you mentioned something about Chef Mickey's being surrounded by walls rather than in the open. I wonder if you're thinking about the old Downtown Disney location? That's been a while ago though.

As for Mickey not walking around, Pooh doesn't walk around at the Crystal Palace either. I guess that we were always used to that so it never seemed like a big deal.

Almost $30 for a picture! Wow!

ETA: I'm told that Pooh walks around the CP. My error!

Will do!! ;) We are picky about pizza so it will have to be pretty good to be be even on our good scale. :rotfl: It is really quite an oddity for us to try it but DH and DD5 love new places!

I'll post food pictures along with menu pictures and prices.
