Horning in folks. Sorry, but I can't PM you Tony. Can you name a few of these QS locales that you are fond of? There are a few that I adore, but I am always open for suggestions!

Sure - Most of these are mentioned on a regular bases in the restaurant threads.

Starring Roles in DHS - Black Forrest Ham sandwich on focaccia, choice of miss Vicki’s chips, Drink (they have cappuccino), really nice cupcakes. Would pay OOP for it.

Sunshine Season in Epcot – many good choices. Beet and goat cheese salad. Seared tuna salad. Really nice Italian sandwiches on Quality bread, Desserts that rival the sit down restaurants. They also have a really good selection of beverages other than soda. Would pay OOP for it.

Norway bakery in Epcot. Soup, Black forest ham on toasted wheat bread, fresh pastry and cappuccino as a beverage. (they let me get a cappuccino instead of the soup but YMMV) Would pay OOP for it.

Germany in Epcot – Nice brat with sauerkraut (ask for extra – they don’t give you a lot of kraut) – standard park pretzel for dessert. Would pay OOP for it, but skip the pretzle.

Main Street bakery – Decent sandwiches. Tomato and fresh mozzarella on a decent role. Desserts not so good. Strawberry and cream smoothie as a beverage or snack. Would pay OOP for it.

Main Street bakery – Decent breakfast, but I think the cinnamon rolls are way overrated. Good deal with a CS Credit.

Most of the food courts have decent food options.
At Pepper market you need to eat after 4PM top get the better items, but they have some nice options like a steak. (it’s not the best cut, but it’s not bad for a QS credit). Dessert were nice. I woudl not pay OOP for most of it though, but it a good option if using a QS credit.

Cosmic rays – Chicken and ribs combo is really good and enough for two. Dessert was awful. Would pay OOP for it.

Flame Tree – The ribs are not bad, the dessert is not as good as it once was and they don’t give you cornbread with the ribs anymore. Still better than a burger on sawdust bun. Would pay OOP for it.

Wolfgang Puck Express in the Market Place (NOT the one on Westside) – Fresh pasta and meatballs. Crème brulee for dessert. They have several other pasta dishes as well as pizzas. The WPE one on Westside has very little to choose from. I hear they have a nice breakfast here as well. This is a bargain and really good for 1 CS credit. I would also choose this over Tony's or Mamas in the parks and paying OOP.

As always great post!

You've been MIA! We missed ya.

Brunette:wizard:

Thanks. :)

Back to school, so I won't be on as much. Been a very busy week, as my daughter also started at a new school, new staff at my school, and some student scheduling issues.

Busy! You'll still see me around, but not as much as before when I was on summer vacation.

Hope you are having a great weekend, Tiger :thumbsup2

Somebody mentioned that people still go even with decline, not entirely true. I just returned and parks were pretty empty. Every ride had 5-10 min wait with very few going up to 30 min. Lots of rooms at CBR were empty. I know it is technically off season but it is Free DP time. Last Year I remember people reported high crowds because of DP, but not this year. Is it because of economy or decline in service, I do not know. All I can say, I saw much less magical moments and nothing new, exciting, can be a contributional factor in low attendance.

Trail's End used to be one of WDW's rare bargains and we loved going over there. At this price we won't be going back.

Price is what a lot of people don't think about. The DDP doesn't work for us financially so we pay out of pocket. Buffet prices are particularly outrageous and so not worth the cost. Eating offsite really saves us big bucks and is often tastier too.

I agree about buffet prices. I had Ohana reservation for this Tuesday and we canceled. I figured out that for $37 plus tax and tip per person I can get more at some other place. I like Ohana but I am not trilled with all salads and pasta and for some meat and shrimp at the end price is just too much. We ate for much less in Tokio Dining where we ordered what we actually wanted plus wine and it still cost us under $100. Buffets just not a good deal at all anymore in my opinion. We did not eat off site, no car, but if you drive I agree that it is better deal.

Are you sure that Trails End buffet is actually $36? The Disney website has been known to post incorrect and/or vague information. In fact, what the link actually does is give a price range for dinner between $15 to $35.99 (which is generally what one will pay for dinner at any Disney buffet and is not meant to be specific to Trail's End). I don't see anywhere on there what the actual price of the dinner buffet is.

What I find really insulting is the over and over again insinuation that those of us that DON'T think Disney is going downhill ~ are newbies and have no business having an opinion. I mean really.... it is getting old.

Isn't it possible to say "Disney is declining" without meaning "Disney is or should be an abandoned wasteland?" These aren't the same thing. I mean, some people loved that WDW had 36 varieties of french fries and are now disappointed that the fries are all the same. As understandable as it is that WDW had to cut costs, they're still disappointed because some of the specialness is gone.

For example, remember the dining series the master chef at Jiko started. My crazy Disney friend would fly down once a month to attend these dinners. The chef was fabulous. Then disney started cutting their budgets.......he left....as did many of the better chefs.

I believe the chef you're talking about was a "she" but yes, that is what happened. I don't know enough about it to know whether she left in protest over cut budgets or if she just got a better offer, though.

I too can't get enough Disney but we just returned from our first trip to the Beach Club and I did not like the fact that you have to rent a tube for the lazy river, and renting the same beach towel at BB or TL that you get for free at the hotel! Just seems like nickel and diming too much to me. However I can't wait to go again!! How do they do that!!

I'm sorry if someone made you feel bad. Thinking that Disney isn't going downhill does not mean that you are newbie or your opinion is not as valid as anyones else. However if someone went only once they really have nothing to compare to and simply do not know if it got worse or better. They still can say if they liked food, prices and so on but cannot say a difference with previous years.

It isn't me specifically Kelly it is just a general attitude of if you don't think it "it MUST be because you weren't there in the good years!"

Am I reading this the wrong way?You have to pay to use a tube if you are staying at the beach club? So in essence you pay to use the pool amenities at a deluxe resort? Glad you said something about the towels at BB and TL cause if I go back I will be sure to bring one with me.

Kind of like when people assume I do not know anything about Mexican food because I did not enjoy San Angel Inn?
I’m just some gringo that wants Tex-Mex.
This gets slung at me on a regular basis.

Or I am some elite that wants "flaming lama butt ala mode".

There are assumptions made on both sides of the argument.

I will listen to both sides but when someone tells me they would be just as happy with chicken nuggets and burgers at the Coral Reef as anything else they serve I really can’t take them seriously.
I have no issue if that is on the menu, but they should have no issue with me expecting better.

It is like talking to your mother, she is older and had more experience which is actually true but it is fine with me. Some people go since Disney creation and obviously know more. I was going for the last 10 years only, yes comparing to some people it is ONLY 10 years. I can speak of decline during this time but I was also told that dramatic change was actually before my 10 years, do not know, did not witness, can only speak from my experiences and I agree that some people who did not witness change or do not care about it has a different opinion. Fine with me. I must say people who did not have bad experiences are blessed, really jelaous. I will write in my next post a brief description of what I experienced this trip. I already posted a trip report with more details on bad and good. Anyone is welcome to check it out.

But the people have NO IDEA what others experiences are. They have no IDEA if I (or anyone else) has been once or 2000 times. It is the assumption of it that bothers me.

We've been going yearly (at least) since 1974. So maybe someone has three years more "experience" than me... that doesn't give them a right to say "well you probably don't see the decline because you weren't there during the good times"

I was there when MK was SO busy because it was the only park.
I was there when EVERY line was 60 minutes or more ALL DAY long because there was no fast pass.
I was there when there were only pictures taken of three of our four person family because someone had to take the picture since there were no photopass photographers.
I was there when staying on sight was an extreme luxury because there were no value resorts.
I was there when you HAD to rent a car to get around and carry the added expense because there was no Magic Express.
I was there when food options were extremely limited.

You see my point here? In my opinion there have been so many IMPROVEMENTS over the years that I see very little if any decline. What I see is a lot of changes happening. Some are good, some are not good. Some are good to some people (free dining) some are bad to some people (free dining).

Prices have increased. I firmly believe that food menu prices have increased in direct relation to use of free dining. Price adjusted tickets seem reasonable to me since there are things that have been added rides, parks, perks (fastpass, internal bus systems). I appreciate that there are all levels of hotels "on property" now that make it so most families CAN stay on property at an affordable cost.

Chipped paint (if I saw any) would not bother me. It especially wouldn't bother me if I wasn't able to go back a week later (or a month later) and see if that same paint were still chipped.

I've not in hundreds of visits "noticed" an overflowing trashcan or a dirty bathroom. That has absolutely no bearing on what someone else saw.

ALL just my opinions ~ but see I *think* the price adjustments are warranted. But again that is my opinion for me and my family. If I see something that is too expensive for us ~ we won't do it. At home and at Disney. I won't pay $38 for a buffet. I don't think it is worth it and I won't pay it. Especially when I feel as though that $38 is including say $18 to subside someone elses "free" diner.

OK, I am posting some of my thoughts here. I have more details on my trip report so here come only few points...

Magic Express brought my DD to a wrong hotel, Poly instead of CBR, and they scanned her ticket,:confused3 she arrived much later then suppose to because of that and she was alone, she is 17, flew couple days later then me because of her job, she was disapointed.

Checking in was fast but while having my request for buildings 45, 46 and 51, I was offered building 53 wich is less convenient. I understand request are not guarantee but they did not even try. After I refused they were calling and checking again and again, offering later check in (5PM) and other buildings till they finally found building 51 ready. The sad part is that lots of rooms at this building were actually empty on first day and for the rest of our stay. Why they cound not find it right away is a mystery for me, why to offer me worse cases first and when I firmly refuse finally give me what I wanted.

Room was OK only at first glance. Yes, carpets, walls are clean, so was bathroom, so was bad. I did not look carefully, I did not sleep the whole night before flight, was still packing and I was way too tired. I briefly checked and just fell over covers and fell asleep till around 8PM. After that I went to pool and when I got back and looked at bedding again I found a dead fly pressed on my sheets and had to call mousekeeping to change beddings. They came very fast but honestly sheets had so many yellow spots, they had to retire. Pillows were very uncomfortable, 4 tiny pillows per bed instead of 2 normal once as they used to have, I could not find a right position for them, so bring some cheap pillows with you if you stay at CBR. Also furniture missed some top wood at places and you could say what was new and what was old in a room. Shower curtains had spots, they were obviously washed but those spots did not come off and it looked dirty. Some towels were very old and paper thin while some were still good. So lets me put it this way, room was fine, not great but fine.

Had some issues with mousekeeping. This is something I will write in my survey for sure. If they cleaned room, they did a good job, except that they always forget to put a plastic bag for ice and no towel animals but overall good job. But the key word is "IF". First day I saw a bag with towels at the door at around 11AM( I was sleeping and had "do not disturb" sign, but seriously at 11 AM they leave me towels, how about comming back later. Second day I was about to leave my room at 10:30 AM and mousekeeping knocked on a door. I opened and she already had a bag to hang on my door. She asked me, if I need service or she can just give me towels, did not I pay for service??? I told her that I need service and I will leave room in couple minutes. As I left, she was pretty far already and rooms had bags on doors. I let her know that I am out and she can clean it. We were back to room around 2PM, nothing. Then later my mom heard her passing our room again and pretty much made her clean. First, I thought that maybe it was result of cuts and she had so much to clean that she was looking for any chance not to clean but I had no problem with other mousekeepers. Next day when mousekeeping knocked and I was still sleeping, she asked me when to come back, did not even mention just giving me towels. I did not pay attention to first mousekeepers name, but I will mention dates and room in survey, she was lazy. Why should I run after mousekeeping and make them clean my room? If I wanted no service I would book offsite villa or just rent a villa. If I pay, I want to get what I payed for.

Noticed many indifferent CMs, not rude, not nice, just there. I was conducting an experiment with 2 CMs at CBR store. They were standing and talking about something, I was walking around them and no reaction, zero. I believe one was teaching the other one and they were doing that while customer is right infront of them. The manager noticed that and told them to stop having fun and asked me if I need any assistance. On my way out they were still paying no attention and as I walked by I heard one said to another, lets take a break and they just left. I saw many CMs with blank expression on rides, even on HM where they usually play with guests. I saw however some very nice CMs, mostly at the gate and cleaning CMs, they always said hello and asked about my day, very nice.

Saw some garbage at MK. Bathrooms, some were spotless, one next to Japan was a mess, my DD refused to use it. Bathroom right next to Epcot bag check smelled outside. We did not even go in, we just walked by and it smelled badly like some public bathroom that was never cleaned, shame.

Experinced some rude guests.
Saw 2 Brazilian tour groups, behaved pretty normal, families however, not so much. I cannot say for sure, Brazilians or not but they spoke Portuguese. One family rode with us on ME, plane has bathrooms, airport has bathrooms but for some reason they needed to use bathroom on a bus while people sit right next to it, why? Had interaction with same foreign family twice (since I am not cpmpletely sure of their origin and they spoke very little English). At MK, on a 3D show, we walk and I sit and then an old woman starts screaming at me and shows me that she holds seats for her family, 4 seats, not kidding. She outstretched her hands and held 4 seats, 2 on both sides right in a center of theater. Her multiple family then joined and they were getting to her while everyone was sitting already. Then they clapped and screamed every time a scene was over. As we left, we went to carousel and my DD rode a horse and I set on a carrige/slide, whatever it is. Right infront of me is again the same family with very active grandma. They got all horses in a row. A baby with mom next to him, a father next to baby, a preteen with grandma taking pictures and 2 teens on a same horse. To entertain a baby, father started hitting horse with his foot to shake it, wonderful behaivor. Also saw many nice foreigners so I believe bad behaivor is exception not a rule. Saw line cutting(joining a family) on a 5 min wait ride. A family cut right in front of me as we walked to Buzz and then as we were almost there(2 min later), 2 other family members run through line, basically cutting everyone. What puzzles me, why can't you wait for your whole family when it is only 5 min wait?.. Another woman elbowed my DD to get infront of her in a second room of Stitch, when we were entering the main room, why? We are there anyway, do you need a better seat? Those 2 I described were not foreigners BTW. The rest of the guests I met were pretty normal.

I could not find anything to buy. Everything is generic except RNR store. I could find same things at every store, nothing unique to parks. Even at Epcot you can see much less unique merchandise then used to be. I never heard of sales at Epcot before. At China, my mom asked about a vase and lady told her it used to be $200 but it is $120 now, interesting. Christmas store at Germany, MK and DTD had nothing interesting, tons of birds, Mickeys heads and princess line ($40) ornaments. I used to buy at least 1 ornament each trip but this time I found nothing. I still bought some things, a little bag at Japan(no big bags anymore), 2 tshirts at Planet Hollywood for my DD, parfume for my DD at DTD, Sushi book at Japan, some magnets at DTD and Minnie towels and mitten for my kitchen.

I remember someone mentioned before that Illuminations are less then used to be. It is actually a sad truth. It has less fireworks and it is really noticable. I remember during grand finale sky used to be light because of all the fireworks, not anymore. It is not as spectacular as it was. Of couse for someone new, it will still be amazing show but those who saw it before like me, can see difference right away. I was so disapointed that second day at Epcot we did not even stay for Illuminations, we left hour before it. Wishes still good, I did not notice change if there is a change.

Why there are so much construction going on at MK, not related to expansion. Whose brilliant idea was to have all those walls and huge posters with pictures of a building behind it, while there are expansion walls. BTW, they should make a higher walls for expansion, I could see some construction, it is not magical, just cover it higher.

Overall it was a good vacation because it was a family vacation and we did create our own fun BUT I could not close my eyes on what I saw. I did not look for problems, they were there. When you smell bathroom 20 feet away from it, right next to entrance to the park you do not even want to go in. When you are ignored by CMs, you do not want to buy things from them, when you run after mousekeeping, you feel like staying offsite next time, when I almost fell because of water bottles on a ground at MK, I was not looking for problems, they were right in front of me, under my feet. We spend much less time in parks then usual primarily because of decline in fireworks and overall less magical feel. We were mostly relaxing at resort and DTD. Of couse I will go again but will probably spend less days in parks, rent a car, eat off site and do other things in Orlando, after all there is a life outside of Disney gate.

I understand your point. People assume many things, human nature, just do not pay attention. Many people like you and to some degree like me can justify some changes and do not care about some things we never use, like CL for me, but the thing is just because we do not use it or can make piece with it, it does not go away, problem is still there. So yes, you may feel that there is no decline, I can feel there is partial decline and someone just stop going to Disney, matter of how we react to changes but the fact remains, changes are there. That is a point of this thread, to see peoples opinions, reaction to what is going on. Again, I believe every opinion is valid and equal on this board.

What I find really insulting is the over and over again insinuation that those of us that DON'T think Disney is going downhill ~ are newbies and have no business having an opinion. I mean really.... it is getting old.

It is also getting old that this thread is getting ripped on other threads, and that the people here saying things are bad are just looking for problems! The more I hear other peoples issues the more insight I can have to what may or may not be wrong with disney.I just learned an interesting fact that you have to rent a tube at BC.If the poster is right I sum that up to more disney problems. You get a deluxe room for 250.00 and up a night and you have to pay for a tube to ride in the lazy river? To steal a saying give em less charge em more!!(sorry donut).

This is common at many deluxe hotels where you have to pay for recreational activities. Same in Carribbean, Las Vegas, Hawaii, Aquatica, etc. We've seen it at all of these places, so it's not just a Disney idea.

Paying extra for recreational items is very common, and should not be used as an argument as to why Disney is going downhill, IMHO.
