With the DDP changing, I think a lot of people are not gonna run off and get the DDP starting in 2008. What do you think? Do you think ADRs will still be a MUST have in 2008 or do you think it will be like before DDP came where we can do walk ups and same day ADRs? Please post a response and please vote as well. :)

I think so. One thing the DDP did was get people introduced to the nice places that they may not have gone to otherwise. So the next time they go to WDW, they are more likely to eat at some of the TS places they liked before, even if they are not on the DDP this time.

I say Yes, ADRs will still be needed. I never used the dining plan, but I still made my ADRs at 180 days out, as I'm sure a lot of other people did. I wasn't making them because of DDP people, but to make sure I got the restaurants/times I wanted. I'll continue to do this next year as well.

My DH and I really sat down and ran the numbers last night about whether or not we should do DDP in '08. The one thing we agreed on is whether we do DDP or not we would still be doing the TS we want. We aren't going to give those up. We do so many character meals for our child. So I think you are still going to see a lot of ADR's being made.
Oh yeah...we decided to go ahead and keep ADR. We don't come out that much ahead but we figure this way so much is "prepaid" we don't have to hassle with that money when we are there. It will be less stress on me...the worrier!

yes - and i also think it's only going to get worse with each passing year

I think that you will have people who do the Deluxe plan. The restuarants that are signature dining will have more partrons than before. Even without the dining plan I still think that ADR's will be needed.

I'm on the fence. Before the DDP you could get a reservation for dinner the day of whenever we went (Nov, Jan, Feb). But at the same time the parks are bringing in a lot more guests. I think we'll see a difference but you'll still need ADRs for the most part.

IMO The NEW Deluxe plan with the extra TS credits will over load the system even with less people buying !

I think ADR's will always be a necessary. Not everyone, but I think most people like to plan ahead. Also, I think people that get the dining plan now will begin doing the Deluxe Dining Plan-One extra TS.

I think the Dinning Plan may well appeal to more people now. Disney seems to have listened to 2 of the most popular complaints people had about the plan. (1) you got to much food (the have removed appetizer for '08) and (2)people can tip as they see fit, so servers can no longer treat people on the dinning plan diffrently that anyone else because they are again having earn there tip. (we never saw this being a problem the years we used the plan however.)

OT, but I wish they would have given you a choice of appetizer or dessert instead of just removing the appetizer. DH is not a sweets person, and if given a choice would choose the appetizer. I on the other hand have a big sweet tooth and would rather have a dessert than an appetizer. It would have given people a little more freedom to leave the choice up to the diner.

I voted yes, but I'm really somewhere in between. I do think the reduction in value of the dining plan will mean fewer people on the plan and therefore somewhat fewer people having daily TS meals, but I think ADRs will be necessary for the popular restaurants regardless. Reservations at the resort restaurants and some of the less popular in-park restaurants might be more doable at the last minute, especially during slower seasons and at off-peak dining times, but I don't see Le Cellier suddenly having loads of walk in availability. And I don't think the deluxe plan will have a huge impact, because it is priced above what the majority of families are willing to budget for food on a daily basis.

Well, umm, yes of course they will always be needed from now on. I would not take a chance and not have somewhere to eat when I am at WDW!:goodvibes

It's still a great plan and I think you'll have a hard time matching the cost dollar for dollar getting the same food ala carte. I think combined with the DDE card for AP holders/FL residents that you'll need ADRs until the dining plan is completely eliminated.

How much is the basic plan? Deluxe? What's included with each? And HOW did you find out about the changes?

Are there other DVC member changes? I went on the DVC Member site and could not find anything. Thanks for your help!!!
