Do you think 42 is too "old" to go back to college

OMG, that is my favorite movie... I love her. I wouldn't have learned a thing I would just be staring at her...I don't know nothing about birth n' babies....

As for going back to school. I don't think you are ever too old... I am going back after my "baby" is in school, she is 2 and I'm 35. I think it's great I will be so proud to be in school. I think it will be a great life lesson for my girls too.

Go for it!!!!

Too old? No way!

There's a great quote by George Eliot, something like "You are never too old to become what you might have been".

I'm sorry your DS is not more supportive. You won't remember anything? Secretly he's probably afraid of competing with you!

42 is absolutely not too old. I went back to college part-time when my youngest (of four) got to preschool. It had been a long time since I had been in school, and I was a little afraid that I would feel funny being so old (I was 35 at the time). It turns out that the average age at the local community college is 29! It took me 7 years to complete my undergrad degree, and at times it seemed like I would be in school forever, but I did graduate, and found a job I absolutely love. Since then I've passed the CPA exam and got an MBA. You are NEVER to old to learn, and it is never too late to follow your dreams. Good luck!

No! I went back to school last year to get my masters (plus certification) in Elementary ed. I have made a ton of new friends of all ages. My best friend is just 21! I was the only person to get 100% on my midterm just the other day and last semester I had a 100% on ALL exams and assignments. I have a degree in Psychology, which I got in my early 20's. I could have never made it through this program then-muh too rigorous. It is NEVER too late for education. I may go on to get my doctorate some day....

Go for it! I went back to school last year for my Masters in Elementary Education and I'm really enjoying it. It was a total switch for me as my undergrad was in business administration. I was nervous at first that I was starting too late, but those fears were soon put to rest. I am actually in a class right now with lots of younger students than myself but also some that are my age (36) and older. Being older and in school has given me a different perspective and I am able to bring my life experience as a mom to the classroom and that has helped me a lot.

Enjoy and remember that you are never to old to learn.

:sunny: :wave2:

oops, I forgot to add that I appreciate school much more now than I did when I was 18. I work a lot harder now than I did way back then!! :hyper:

Of my 4 college-educated siblings, only one finished his BA 4 years after leaving HS. (& that brother went on to get his MBA as an older student.) The other 3 are happy they completed college (finally) and went on to get Masters too. So, in my family, you'd be the norm!

I can say that most of the older people in my classes have been people that I have looked upon as smarter types, never thought what they were doing was stupid

Thanks for all the kind words and I enjoyed every single one of your posts!... Very Inspirational
I will go back next Fall, DH is very supportive, DS will get used to the idea too.
Thanks everyone, sometimes you feel like your the only one thinking of doing something until you hear about what other people think and have done here!
