Do you tell your friends about the DIS?

I think I am kind of selfish when it comes to "my" DIS boards....couple that with the fact I may not want my coworkers reading all my posts.....leads me to refer to the DIS as "my Disney boards" - I haven't even given my mother or sister the link....

which, is silly - any search on Disney will bring it up...

I just don't want to share!!

I know what you mean :)!! I want them to access the info...but I don't want them reading all my posts! It wouldn't be so bad if I hadn't said bad things about them.... they're all TRUE...but my sister might not like how I've posted that she's got 3 kids and is never home and avoids them like the plague ;) ... or how my dh's son needs to get a job and move out :)!!! He's 24...and finished 6 yrs of college...its time :)!!! I can totally relate :wizard:

I just gave out the URL to someone yesterday. I figure she won't find the CB for some time and she won't figure out who I am for even longer. :rotfl: I've given it out to other people, too.

I suppose that there are people that I wouldn't give it out to, but I can't really think of who that would be. I'm a little too open book, I suppose. :teeth:

Before I started to post on the CB, I used to give the URL & even told one or 2 of them my ID. Luckily, none of them took my advice. Now I'll give the URL but that's it!

I'd never thought of it before, but I do simply refer to the information I get here as "someone told me on the Disney site that I'm a member of that......"
I never actually give them the name of the site or anything. Now that I've pondered it I've decided to keep it a secret.

No, because I may want to talk about them!

I refer to the DIS as "the Disney Boards!" :rotfl:

I don't want people I know to read my posts. That is why my DIS name is not my real name. If friends read enough of my posts, saw my dog's name and where I lived/live they could figure it out. But definitely my DIS name is no indication of who I am. Probably my 1 brother who is into Disney would know me by the name but then again he is not the type to hang out on the DIS. Anything he wants to know about going to WDW, he just asks me! Also, I would never post my pic because I wouldn't want coworkers, etc., to see me and read my posts. Sometimes it is good to hold info back!

I wouldn't care if my friends came here, but if my family lurked around I might be in some trouble...

Haha same here. Most of my friends don't love Disney as much as I do anyway so I don't think they'd be interested.

and in my case, they all think I'm kinda weird to hang out on a message board anyway! :rotfl2:

I tell people about the DIS, but I know they will never come here

I made the fatal error of telling a few people. I thought I was doing a good deed and I think that one person in general, would go in and read my posts when they had nothing better to do. Big mistake. I don't want someone I know personally knowing all my vacation habits and occasional rants. Another fatal error, using part of my name as my user ID. What an idiot I am.

Now I just tell everyone my "disney boards" too. But a simple search can find us.

Heck no! This is my private neck of the internet world! Besides, I may write about them from time to time! They'd also think I was an even bigger freak than I already am because I hang out at a message board on a somewhat daily basis.

:rotfl: I agree. If I want to discuss my family or friends and get advise on here about how to handle them, I sure don't want them to know. I am always telling people about the things I learn on here, but when they ask "what site is that?".
I suddenly develop amnesia. I am not proud :sad2: of it but let them find their own discussion boards. I am not lying I just have selective amnesia. :teeth:

I talk to my family about these boards all the time. DH thinks I'm nuts. My mom has some Vegas boards that she reads so she totally understands.

I told my DSIL about this and now she posts on here also. Of course now she thinks I am stalking her if I respond to something she writes. :thumbsup2 She and my DB moved away last year and we don't talk as often so sometimes this board is how I learn things about my DNeices :wave2:

I have alot of friends that I have made in real life because of the Dis. I talk about the Dis sometimes to people that already knew about the Dis.

Some of my friends around here use the DIS boards too. I didn't know that they did until they came up to me and told me they saw my posts and picture in my signature! I happen to live in an area that has a lot of Disney lovers like myself so this was bound to happen. :goodvibes

My mom knows that I post on a Disney message board, but I'm not 100% sure if she knows which one. I think she might by some of the comments she has made to me.

I would NEVER tell my friends about the Dis Boards!! They would think I have totally lost it in sanity! :teeth: And besides, I would be scared to death they would figure out my Dis ID and then read all my posts! Now that would be EMBARRASSING! I'd never live it down!

llij...I have to tell you...that is one cute baby!
