to your pets? I do. I never did this with my kids, but my pets bring out some kind of weird mothering thing in me and I find myself saying to the cat, "Momma wuvs her little kitty-kitty, oh yes she does, oh, yes she does."

It's sickening.

Yes! I'm awful. I have had people make comments about the way i baby talk my pets. Hey, there my only kids and they love it!!! "Dem is the cutest babies ever"

Yes. I never talked baby talk to my kids (except when they were infants- the minute they started to mimic I used my big girl voice....) But my dog brings out the "Motherease" speaker in me..... I'm pretty sure my dog likes it too... :rolleyes1

I sing to her too- put her name in stupid little songs..... I used to do this with the kids too..... when I was pregnant with my son my daugher (who was 6) said, "I can't wait until you have the baby and then you can sing to it!" :lmao:

Yes. I do the baby talk and kissie smoochies too! :lmao: My dog is the best and she deserves it. :)

:rotfl:
Before I scrolled over the thread title I thought to myself "only to my kitties". I thought it was going to ask if we baby talked to our kids or our spouses.

oh yes all the time. my dogs name is princess, so that gives me a lot of material. "Pretty Pretty PRINCESS"!
She loves it though.

totally. I rarely even used words like "poop" or "potty" with my kids, but use them all the time with my dog.

I never used baby talk on our pets. I don't use baby talk with our baby.

Guilty as charged--for both baby talk and singing. :rolleyes1

Oh yes, I'm one of those people who hate baby talking with children, never did it with mine, but my dogs get it constantly. I have one named Paris Hairless Hilton so there's a lot of variations of baby talk on that one.

I don't baby talk to her but dd cracks up because I have one sided conversations with the dog.

"Sunny, do you think I should make pork chops for dinner tonight?" "Sunny, I think I'm going to do a couple of loads of laundry and then head out to Target." "I wonder if DD has plans for tonight."

:lmao: When dd was small, I narrated everything I did. For some reason, I can't stop myself from doing this with the dog, as well. I told dd that when Sunny learns to talk, she's going to have a GREAT vocabulary.

I just did:goodvibes I always talk to my "baby" that way and even make up baby-talk versions of his name, which is Mickey Mouse by the way:thumbsup2

OMG! I'm so glad I'm not the only one! I never did this with my kids, but with the kitty? It's all, "Who's a mommy kitty?? Who is? That's right, you are!!"

My tone of voice changes, but not my choice of words.

Not at all, which creates a problem when I'm on the phone. I always speak to my cat in a normal voice, using normal words, and I think that he thinks that when I'm on the phone I'm actually speaking to HIM. Therefore, he feels compelled to answer me. CONSTANTLY. If I have to be on a conference call for work, I have to hightail it into the bedroom and shut the door behind me or he'll make himself a big part of the conversation.

I only talk baby talk to 1 of my dogs. And that's because she's my pretty pretty princess. Her name is HRH Zuzu Petals of Bubbadom.

Only to our male cat, Zazu. DH found him under a truck last summer. We were NOT going to keep him. But anyway...

He has this pitiful little cry. "Meh! Meh!"

He will come find me and say "Meh!" And I reply "Hello, sweet-sweet! Do you want Mommy to sit on the couch with you?" We proceed to the couch. He waits for me to sit, then he jumps on my lap and I say "Dere him is!" Then he burrows his nose in the blanket and he PURRRRRRSSS. :)

Guilty! Brueopotamus (my cat Bruce, long story) is my baby, and gets treated that way

How can you not?? Cute things get a cute voice! :cloud9:

Cuz theyse so cute, yes dey are! Yes, dey are!

Yeah, I'm guilty here too. I don't do it with babies, but get one of my cats in the room and I've completely lost my faculties. :rolleyes1
