Do you take your glasses off?

I used to be a contact lens wearer but can't wear them anymore. I'm wondering if they will stay on for some of the wilder rides? If I take them off I may get dizzy and won't enjoy the ride though!! I am blind without them.

I have never taken mine off, the only one I haven't riden is RocknRollercoaster...Never had any problems on the others.

DS wears glasses and he leaves them on for everything except the RocknRoller Coaster. He says it feels like they are about to be ripped off there so I put them in my pocket for him.

If you take them off and worry about getting dizzy, would closing your eyes help?

I usually wear contacts but when I do wear my glasses I always leave them on. I have a friend who always takes his off, though.

It would take an unusual sequence of events to cause your glasses to fly off your face during a ride, IMO -- but I'm sure someone here will tell you how their glasses flew off their face during a ride once, so there's probably at least some small risk of it happening.

The ony ride I take my glasses off for is Rock n Rollercoaster. That is the only one I have felt like they were going to "fall off" on.

I am blind without my glasses too so I know how you feel. I don't take my glasses off and I have been fine on RNR and EE and even some of wilder Universal rides. The one thing that I do though, is I make sure not to turn my head to the side during high speed turns because once when I did turn my head, I felt my glasses lift up slightly because the wind caught them but even then, they did stay on. I wouldn't be able to enjoy the rides if I had to take off my glasses because I wouldn't be able to see anything that is over a foot in front of me.

I will be interesting to see how others respond but I would think that we would hear about all sorts of injuries if people's glasses were flying off and hitting other riders.

I leave my glasses on, even RnR. The force of going forward keeps them on for me, even unsidedown.

I am also blind without my glasses and I always leave them on. I have never had a problem. You could always wear a sports strap if you're worried.

How well do yours fit? One test is to look down at your feet and shake your head vigorously. If your glasses don't move, you're probably good to go.

One other thing I do is bring a backup pair of glasses with me, even an older pair, just in case something should happen. (I leave them in the hotel room- hopefully DD could lead me back there! ) Mine is not the kind of prescription that could be filled in an hour so if your lenses are also special order, you might want to consider having a backup on hand.

I leave them on and wear a strap/cord.

I know they probably won't fall off back but I like the security of not worrying about it.

Once I took them off and put them in my pocket. I came off the ride and started to walk sideways and tilted. One side of my world was not where it should have been.

After doing a quick check to see if I had just had a concussion or maybe a brain tumor, I realized I lost a lens. :rotfl:

Re traced my steps back to the ride but didn't find it. My wife was not too happy that she had to drive all the way home (8 hours).

Oh and my mother lost a pair of sunglasses on a river raft type ride. Washed them right off her head.

I also take them off for RRC (and California Screamin at DCA). Otherwise, no problems. (But I also refuse to wear a sports strap, so that is just me.)

My daughter is functionally blind without her glasses. She has a strap/cord that we bought at Cedar Point for $2 like five years ago that she takes and wears all day when she's going to go on rides.

I wore mine on everything our last trip (and we rode everything), but there were a few times I felt like I had to reach up to hold them on. That being said, my mom is also legally blind in her left eye and very bad in her right, so she will absolutely be wearing hers the entire time we're there, even on rides. If you have concern, I 100% second the idea of a sports strap. Get a cheapie from Walgreens, and if it bothers you then you won't be out much money.

:rotfl: This is me to a T. As a teen/young adult if I didn't put my glasses in the exact same spot every night before bed I'd have to call someone in to help me. Now that I live alone, I wonder if I could train my dogs to do it... ;)

OP, I wear a glasses strap and ride everything with no issue. The only thing I haven't done w/glasses is R'n'R but I wore them on IoA's Hulk and I think that's probably similar. I plan to leave 'em on R'n'R when I go this weekend.

Back when I wore glasses i would take them off on all roller coasters. Now I wear contacts so it's not an issue, but if I needed to keep my sunglasses on or HAD towear my glasses,I wuld get one of those (what are they called??? Karoki's??) strap thingy's to keep them on.

I always take mine off and hold them - but I worry quite abit about losing them.

I also wear a sports strap for the peace of mind. I put it on while in line and put it under my hair. Then take it off again right after.

I wear contacts now but I used to wear glasses and I've never had to take them off for any ride at Disney. I did have a contact knocked out once on Kali but that was because a bunch of water hit me before I could get my eyes closed.

I take mine off for RnRC. It's so fast & I usually have my eyes closed on that ride anyway...:rotfl:

I used to leave them on for all but RnR, not anymore.

I had a lens pop out on Space Mountain.
We were there at 2:45am for EMH and they still wouldn't give me time to search the vehicle to see if the lens was in the car. They had a manager come over and sit with us and explain their whole search procedure after closing and that he'd already radioed the staff to be on a lookout for a lens from glasses. I, of course, was freaking out. I can't see with out my glasses and these weren't even a week old yet. They had the transition lens in them so it takes 2 weeks even at lens crafters to get them in. Plus we didn't have a car so I was trying to figure out how we'd get to a place to get new glasses made.

The manager was just so great, kept DH and I talking about trivia about SM, etc. Then out of the blue about 7 minutes into waiting for the 3am close time the cm who wouldn't let me search the car came up to us and said a guest had just found it on the floor of the car! Unscratched too. It was amazing!

From then if, if it can bounce or moves remotely fast I take my glasses off. This means all roller coasters. It's sad I can't see, but better that than go through that nightmare again.
