I take my dog for a car ride from time to time....I have never taken the cat :guilty: A friend of mine does take his cat for a ride, now I'm feeling guilty :guilty: Do you take your cat for a ride? :confused3

No way. I have three cats and none of them would enjoy a ride in the van. It is a real task just to take them to the vet.

Unless I have a hankering for endless yowling, scratching and clawing, I won't take my cats for a ride.

We had a cat who loved to ride in the car. She'd sit on the back of the driver's seat & put her paws on DH's shoulder. :) She was pretty unusual though!

Yes my cats both love car rides! We usually transport them every week from my place to my boyfriends. We broke them into liking cars when they were young though so maybe that's why they are so good about it.

I take my two cats for a ride occasionally - in their cat carriers, to the vet. They howl and whine all the way there and all the way back, and occasionally one of them will pee just for good measure.

"Taking the cats for a ride" and "for fun or pleasure" will never be heard in the same sentence coming from my mouth!!!!

Uh, no way!

Tinkerbell and Pixie WANT NO PART OF A CAR RIDE TO THE VET much less a joy ride! :rotfl:

My cat Allie (RIP my beloved girl :guilty: ) used to LOVE a car ride. she would lay on the backseat and just look around and she enjoyed it!

My cats now...oh heck no!!! The once a year trip to the vet is enough to hold me over.

When I was a kid we had a cat that loved the car. If you had the car open while unloading groceries, she would hop in and lay on the seat. If we had guests over, we had to make sure to lock her in otherwise she would try to climb into their cars!

I had a neighbor who took hos cat for a walk, complete with leash.

The odd part was the cat actually cooperated and walked along like a trained dog.

My cat is definitely not a car-ride fan, and I have the scratches to prove it. :cat:

Yup, my cat would rather have her fur pulled out 1 by 1 than get into a car. :rotfl:

I think Jaggy would enjoy going for a ride, other then going to the Vet. He enjoys yelling at the geese from inside to car.
I think if I can convince myself that he really, really likes it, rather then the reason of me just being amused, then he would go for rides.
Maybe he can come with me to pick dd up from play practice, he does love sitting on my lap in the car. Imagine how happy he would be when we pass his Doctors office and don't turn in.

My cat loves to go in the car.
If I'm dropping my DD off somewhere that is only a few blocks away,
we take the cat for a ride.

He sits on the back ledge then walk around and looks out the window.

I had to drive cross-country once. My kitty was too young to take on a plane. The first day & a half, she yowled the whole time of 10 hour/per day driving. I thought, no way am I going to make it through to 5 days.

The second day, I pulled over to a little service road, off the highway and let her roam around in the car. I figured maybe that would be enough to quiet her, letting her know the car environment. As soon as I placed her back in the carrier, the yowling started again.

I let her out again and tried driving at 2 mph to see how she'd react to the moving car. She loved it! She jumped right up into the windshield, looked around like it was a panoramic movie screen. We had no problems at highway speed. She has literally seen the Grand Canyon and the Arches of Utah.

Now she doesn't watch tv. Somehow she knows that's not real. She loves car commercials though. :rotfl: She always looks at me when a Saturn car commercial comes on, like, "Can we ride in that one next time?" :rotfl2:

wow, he must be a real deep carying sensistve sexy man :)

Not for pleasure, no.

When we camp at our favorite local campground (2 miles from our house) I drive her over there in her cat carrier and she yowls the whole time.

She has back claws so I wouldn't want her to poke holes in my leather seats so when she does go in the car she's in the carrier.

She yowls when being driven to/from the vet's too.

Don't think she'd enjoy just riding around like a dog does.

Nope. Have never owned a cat that liked car rides. Trying to get my old cat Harley to the vet was torture for everyone involved (let's just say by the time we got there his carrier would be a mess and so would he). Vet finally gave me a mild sedative for me to give him for when he had to go in the car.

Myst

Euri loves to ride in the car! She likes to be in the back seat and will occasionally look out the windows back there.

She also walks on a leash. I live across the street from the school where I teach. In the summer, we go across and visit with my principal.
