Do you take water or drink from fountains?

I'm wondering if we need to pick up a case of bottled water or just get free ice and add water from the fountains. I really want us to try and keep up with our water intake this trip, last time we drank way too much coke.
But, the thought of lugging around frozen water bottles in addition to all our other kid stuff we have to carry makes me wince! On the other hand I've heard stories of people getting sick from the water from the fountains. Think this is a huge urban legend? I just don't want to have to spend all our money on bottled water! What a waste!
Anyone know how many waters will fit into the freezer part of the studio fridge?

We take a water bottle in the parks with us and refill from the fountains. Never had any problems.

I don't think you'll get sick from the water fountains but I've never liked the taste. We buy bottled water. I got a 12 pack of Dasani at Winn-Dixie for around $4.00.

We hate lugging things around so we buy bottles of water in the parks and/or use the fountains.

We stop at Publix and grab a case. I prefer using the water bottles over the drinking fountains for sanitary reasions and I don't like the taste of the water. I also find I do drink MORE if I have to lug it around.

We usually throw the bottles in the freezer and take them as we go. This way we are also drinking water in the Villa instead of pop.

I have actually started carrying around a small 8 oz bottle with me. I drink from the fountains all the time and I swear I have never gotten sick nor even heard of anyone getting sick from water from a fountain. I know many don't like the taste of it, but where I work, we have nasty water and FL is much better ;)

Just as an FYI, if you really want some nice cold water, you can go up to pretty much any counter service and ask for a cup of ice water. It is always free and I have never been turned down when I ask. Granted it isn't as much as a bottle of water but usually given in about a 12-16 oz cup :)

I usually purchase spring water there and I bring my "camelbak" which I load with ice in the morning and a small bottle of spring water. The ice melts throughout the day and replenishes my drinking supply. The first time I did this my family thought I was nuts (as usual) but by mid day (in Aug.) they were all regretting not brining their own (which I packed knowing they would want to use them and did on the days following).

For those of you not familiar with camelbak... it is basically a backpack which has a bladder in one of the compartments with a tube fed up through the straps which hangs over you shoulder for easy access to the water. This is normally used for hiking and mountain biking so it is designed to be durable, hands free, and leak proof. They can be purchased at most sporting goods stores these days. For more information check out the camelbak website: http://www.camelback.com/rec/products.cfm

I drink out of the fountains all the time... usually cold, pretty good.

Of course, I'm comparing it to the water at school when school begins in August and the water anytime in Midland/Odessa.

I usually get the free ice water with my meals as well... saves a little money and sodas always make me more thirsty anyway.

As far as carrying stuff around... I'm to the point where, if it doesn't fit in my pocket, I'm not taking it. :teeth:

I bought the small Dasani ($1.25) the first day cause I forgot to bring my Brita and used that the entire week we were at WDW. I just hooked it to my fanny pack. Anytime I need a refill, I just go to the fountains. It's cold enough to get me by until I can get some ice.

I find that filling it up in the morning from the food court gives you really really cold water too.

A large Dasani at MK costs $2.50, so I bought a couple and put them underneath the stroller. I refilled at water fountains. The water fountains were rarely crowded.

Also asked for free cups of ice at counter service (Cosmic Rays).

We always bring water bottles and freeze them. First off, you always have
cold water. Secondly, we use the bottles to rub on the back of our kids
necks to cool them off. Try doing that with a cup of ice water.
As for toting aroung, we pack our DVC backpack with essentials only:
water, snacks, rain gear, Photo gear etc.

I usually carry one or two bottles of water. But then, I rarely go in the summer or anytime I would need more.

I *do* get sick on WDW water...but, to clarify, my tummy can't handle any changes to water. When we move, I'm on double filtered water (we have a Brita thingy on the faucet, and a container for the fridge) for a while. I don't have time to adapt to Disney's water, so I avoid it.

We bought these Britta filtered water bottles (fill & go) for about $6.99 each at Walmart. They are the typical sports water bottle size and since they are filtered you get brilliant water taste each squirt.

I would fill them up with Ice from the hotel in the morning and the heat of the day would melt them into nice cool water. From then on I would fill up at the drinking fountain and add ice (when we stop for lunch).

I love them very much and was very happy with our decision to buy them!

NEVER!!

I've seen people "hack" big ones in them. The worst was at an airport. A guy let his very large dog  drink out of it. You realise, his mouth was all over the part where the water comes out.

I'll gladly pay high prices for bottled water.

(I have nothing against dogs, I just don't want my mouth where their's has been.)
