Do you take vitamins? why?

I take a multi because my doctor said I needed to. It has helped a little with my energy..I always felt SO run down and totally exhausted before I started taking it. I'm still tired when I wake up, but not nearly as much as I was before, when I could barely drag myself out of bed in the mornings.

I HATED taking my prenatal multivit when I was pregnant with DS..the one my dr prescribed had enough iron in it to constipate an elephant! :faint::lmao:

Fish oil (omega 3) is beneficial for some conditions and may be linked to better overall health. The list goes on ...

Yea, I take a Fish Oil because I have cholesterol problems and it helps raise the good cholesterol. I take a Vitamin D/Calcium supplement because I don't get enough sun in the winter and as a paraplegic I have to fight off bone loss in my legs and osteoporosis. I take the vitamin C and cranberry to fight off UTIs because I'm susceptible to them as a paraplegic. All of these are doctor recommended to me. I also take a multi-vitamin because I know I don't have a balanced diet and I'm hoping that anything I miss will be made up for in the vitamin.

I don't expect to live longer due to vitamins but I do expect to have fewer day to day problems.
 
The reason the companies who push its use do so is that vitamin C isn't stored in the body at all. The body takes what it needs and the rest is just peed right out. You'd have to work at it to poison yourself with vitamin C. So, they can give higher levels of that and people think it is doing them good...and it all gets peed out, so no lawsuits for toxicity.

But that's why I take the vitamin C. :lmao: I want it to be peed out so it raisies the acidity of my urine and fights off my UTIs. :thumbsup2
 
I take a multi-vitamin, a calcium supplement and a B-complex. I take the first two b/c even though I try to eat a balanced diet, I'd rather be safe than sorry. Plus, my doctor advocates taking a multi and a calcium. I am taking the B-supplement b/c DH and I would like to have a baby.
