Do you take a vitamin everyday?

Vitamins always bothered my stomach so I never kept up with it. A co-worker of mine who is pregnant was taking Flintstones vitamins because she couldn't handle the other brands. Her doctor said it was okay. I tried them, but alas, no luck.

So finally, my doc told me I could eat Total cereal (the raisin bran for me) each morning, have some fruit and veggies during the day, and I wouldn't need to take a vitamin.

Do you guys take one? Does it bother you? Did it make you feel better?
I feel like I'm missing out on something!

I take one every day, usually after a meal so it doesn't bother my stomach.

What kind do you take? The problem is the iron. Iron and me don't agree. (i'm a poet and didn't know it)

I take One a Day Women's.

Have you tried those gummi vitamins? I know they have them for children.

I'll look into it. My doc said that I wouldn't have such a problem if digesting it naturally...through the foods that provide those vitamins. But I'll try those, I'll know when it's not working!

Look on the package. It could be the iron, but there may also be another ingredient you're sensitive to.

I'm allergic to citric acid, and many vitamins have it as an ingredient. If you can figure out what's bothering you, you can work around it!

I'm pretty sure it's the iron. From what I've read about the side effects, it fits me perfectly. Are there vitamins available without iron?

I used to take vitamins. I don't anymore. Then I took a nutrition class, and there is a whole section in the nutrition textbook about vitamin toxicity. This book stated that vitamins are overkill if you are eating a balanced diet. They blame the vitamin manufactures for brainwashing people into thinking that they are not getting enough nutrients from their daily food -which most of us are.

I'm not a really vitamin taker, but I do eat those calcium chews. I got a sample pack of the Viactiv vitamin chews in one jar and they are the only multivitamin I've ever taken that didn't make me nauseous or burp all day. The fruit ones didn't taste great, but their edible. Chocolate might be better.

I take a prenatal vitamin and have been since about 6 months before conceiving my first child. I know that on most days I dont' eat all the things I should so I feel the vitamin makes up for that. There are vitamins without iron though so if you really want one look for them. My daughter (though obviously this is different cause she's 1) takes a vitamin without iron, it's only vitamins A,C, and D, which she has been taking since 2 months old because she was breastfed (her dr said breastfed babies don't get enough vitamin D). At first we got her just a mulitivitamin with iron, but it was disgusting, and seeing her face and reaction when we gave it to her was too much so we switched. So there're out there. Another option would be to take single vitamins (like only vitamin C) if you think it's just 1 or 2 minerals you're deficient in. Oh, and no, they don't bother me. I take it right before I go to sleep and have no trouble. The only time I had a problem was when I was actually pregnant, then the smell of the vitamin made me gag, but I just focused on why I was taking them (didn't eat anything but pizza products for the 1st 4 months) and I got them down. They have a vanilla-type scented coating that my husband thinks smells good, and so do I now, but gosh, when I was pregnant that smell was nauseating.

Vitamins bother me a bit. For me, it is mostly the iron. You can take Centrum Silver (it does not contain iron). I even cut them in half.

I also agree with your doctor. Total is VERY fortified so that and a few veggies should work for you.

multi vitamin
vit c
tums
baby aspirin
Levothyroxin
fish oil

I am pregnant and I dont take a vitamin. I will have to try the Total Cereal. No vitamin agrees with me, no prenatals were a horror show. Lets say that I have gastro issues not pregnant and being so and taking prenatals only magnified it!

My OB flat out told me to stop taking them....he said he would rather I was able to eat and not keep losing weight...that that was more important than the prenatals. I do worry about getting enough Iron and Calcium for my own good.

I have done some reading and some doctors believe that for the most part (other than folic acid) there isnt any proof that the vitamins do anything for the baby, but they do replace what is depleted in the mother.

A milti-vitamin every day... when I remember... and I'm not running out the door.

Had my Total this morning. And boy, I feel like I could lift a car!

Just kidding, I'm still laying on the couch trying to figure out I'll need fresh air at some point. :)

I take the chewable Viactiv. I can't swallow pills. I used to take the chewable Centrum, but I decided I liked the chocolate better. :)
