I do, but I dont think they do any good, when my mom was alive she always wanted me to take them so bad, so I still do for her, even though she passed

Probably should but no. I had enough trouble trying to remember to take my prenatals when I was preggo.

how much could they really help, but its real easy to swallow a pill (if you remember )

I do, and my DDil tells me my hair is much healthier since I started! She is my hairdresser too!

Nope, I just eat a balanced diet.

No, but I do take D3. I eat a healthy diet. I probably should, couldn't hurt.

I don't take any vitamins. I really should, I guess. But there are SOOOO many different kinds out there, I have no clue which one to get. I always hear it's good to take a D3, or C, or K, blah, blah, blah.

Then you have all the multi-woman's ones. One for this age, that age, metabolism, energy.

It gives me a headache on which one to choose. Any help? And do they really work? Really? Like, do you feel a difference?

Yes. I take the BJ's version of Once A Day for Women.

I don't know if it does any good, but I don't think it's doing harm.

If you eat a balanced diet, you don't need vitamins. Your body takes what it needs, stores what it can and eliminates the rest.

All those people who take mega doses of vitamins aren't any healthier, they just have more expensive pee.

If you don't eat a balanced diet...join the crowd...just take a Centrum Multivitamin.

I do! I only started because we were trying to conceive, then we did and I wanted to make sure DS was getting everything he needed everyday to grow, and now I'm still taking them to help with replenishing what he took for the next baby. It's a terrible cycle,:lmao:

I don't now. But when I was a kid my brother and I fought over the red Flintstone chewables :thumbsup2

Nope. OTC vitamins aren't regulated like an RX would be, so there's no telling how much is really contained in each tablet. Each tablet could have half or double what's stated on the bottle. That variance isn't worth my money.

I do try to eat plenty of fresh foods, drink mostly water, and balance it over time. No one is going to get every RDA every single day.

This hasn't been true for me, partly because it is difficult to get enough vitamins out of the food I can eat. I went to the doctor with all kinds of pain a couple of months ago, and it turned out I'm really deficient in vitamins D and B12. Since I don't drink milk (lactose intolerant) and winter here is pretty much sun deprived, the D made sense. B12 comes from meat though. I definitely eat my meat, even though I'm not aiming to get any pudding. I think it's related to some intestinal issues and my body not absorbing what it should.

So yeah, now I take a multivitamin, though I don't know how effective it is. I also take ridiculously huge doses of vitamin D weekly (50,000 units in one pill--it's like a $20 vitamin pill so thankfully insurance pays for it). To top it all off, I also give myself vitamin B12 shots (I am so very, very brave, or at least try to be :grouphug: )

It's made a difference. My extremities quit hurting and tingling, and I have a lot less hair coming out into my hairbrush. So yay for vitamins!

I will say that if you're not absorbing vitamins from your food, it might not be possible to absorb them from a pill. That's why I have to do a shot for the b12.

I'm planning to try taking one of those natural multi vitamins in the future. For now though I eat well, obtain most of my vitamins and minerals through diet. There are a couple nutrients that are difficult to obtain through diet though.

Vitamin D3 creation comes mainly from noon time sunshine exposure. Little of it can be obtained through diet. So not being out in the sun much, I supplement with 6000ius a day. That is how much I need to reach a testing level between 60 to 70ng/ml.

I also take vitamin k2, some fish oil, and kelp/iodine tablets. Apparently with salt being shunned by many, and salt being fortified with iodine, goiters are making a come back.

We do. I figure that at best it'll cover what is lacking for the day and at worst it won't do any harm.

I only take vitamins based on my doctors recommendations. I do not take amulti vitamin but I take a few separate vitamins.

I take B12 (I am always low when I dont take it)
Vitamin D/Calcium (I am lactose intolerant AND fair skin so I dont get much sun)
Biotin (helps to counter the effects of my methotrexate)
Folic Acid (counteracts some side effects of methotrexate)

I have been having some major GI problems and have been losing a lot fo weight but even so, besides the B12 and Vitamin D (both of which I was low in BEFORE the GI problems), I am not having problems with anything else. I can't eat a lot but I eat 3 servings of fruit, 3-5 servings of vegetables, and 1-2 servings of meat (usually chicken or turkey) everyday.
