Do you suggest a night at WDW after cruise?

I'm planning what is turning out to be our "ULTIMATE DREAM VACATION"... for DS (6) and myself. Starting on 4/12 (Wednesday) arriving at POFQ for 3 nights... with a 4 day park hopper/no expiration ticket and dining option. :cool1:

Then off to DCL to sail on the April Easter 2006 7 night cruise on Magic! :boat:

Now, because I just can't get enough... I thought of adding a final night on 4/22 at POFQ (that's why I added the extra day at the park and made them "no expiration") so we can get one final taste of MK on that Saturday night... perhaps Sunday morning... then back home about 6:30 p.m. Sunday night. :earboy2:
Back to work/Back to school on Monday... will we be too exhausted? :earseek:

IMHO, it would be tiring. I think a full day to rest would be in order, before returning to school for the little guy

I would agree.

We like to give the girls a 'down' day at home before going back to school also. It gives everyone a chance to get things together and rest up. BUT I also understand that it is hard to leave Disney, and well, I am sure they will get caught up on their rest by the following weekend.

I have twin DDs. One would do fine staying to the last minute, the other really needs some down time (or at least she did when she was younger, maybe now she could handle it better). So you have to go by your family and how they will be if you do this.

I will say, it is so sad leaving the ship on the last day and knowing you are going to Disney does help with the that sad feeling. We are going on the 4 night and we are then going to Disney for 2 or 3 nights afterwards.

We added a day trip on to the end of our 4 night Wonder and I was so surprised as to how tired we were that day. I remember thinking we should have just gone straight home the day we disembarked. We are adding a couple of days at Disney before our next cruise but we are going home right after. I think imho you really do need at least one day and probably two to rest and recover from the cruise before getting back to school/work.

Hope you have a magical vacation! :flower3:

Thanks Ladies... I've come to my senses! :cloud9:

I totally agree. I think a day of rest would be in order before going to school the next day. Personally, I would want to rest before going to work the next day.

The ship and the cruise are so relaxing for me I always want to hol;ld on to that feeling as long as I can. I enter the rat race soon enough when i get home. THe parks are great but they are fast paced and crowded and for my money are best done before the cruise not after.

The only reason I wouldn't want to do one night at WDW after the cruise is that it would be double depressing...having the cruise end, and then only an itty biity taste of WDW, and then home. If I could stay for a week after the cruise, I'd definitely do it! Hey, I will be doing it in '07!

We always go to WDW at least two days before and two after a cruise. If we can do more we will. We love both venues and want to spend as much time there as possible (we have annual passes) :paw:

That's a great way to do it!

An even better way to do it!

You should go ahead and do it. I think it would be way better to go to WDW rather than home right after the cruise that way you can sort of ease your way down from being on vacation. Rather than just end it right away and go home.

We're doing disney after our cruise, but with a rest day in between. We're planning on leaving the port thursday morning after a 4 day, then heading over to spend the day at the swan. Basically a rest/pool day, then the next day head to MK. Hopefully with a good nap on thursday we'll all survive a day at disney.

We're flying down on Wednesday night and doing WDW Thursday, and then going over to Cocoa Beach for Friday and then we get on the ship for a 7 night. When we get back we will do one day at the beach and then its back home.

Maybe we are crazy - I won't know for sure until after our cruise this year! Last year, we got back from the cruise and had a 6pm flight so we went to the Kennedy Space Center before heading to the the airport. Although it was fun, we kept wishing we were at WDW - it was the first time we didn't go to WDW in the fall and we were really missing it.

This year, we are flying in late on Wednesday - spending Thurs & Fri at the parks and driving to the Radisson at the port Friday evening (probably after dinner). After the cruise (7-night Western), we will head back to WDW and are flying home around 6pm on Sunday (gets us home and unpacking about 10pm).

However, we don't consider WDW a stressful vacation. We are not park commandos and don't push ourselves to exhaustion on our trips. We know that we can't possibly do everything (or even all of our favorite things) in the amount of park time we'll have, so we won't even try. DS6 has been to WDW every 6 months since he was born (except last fall) so he knows exactly what to expect. And he knows that if we don't do something this trip, we'll have another chance next spring. I think it will be fine - but until we do it I don't really know for sure!

Our flight time (the only direct flight) leaves at 9:30 am which we knew we couldn't make the day we leave the ship - SO - what else could we do but spend a day at MK!!! I just can't stand knowing it's that close and not going.

Our cruise is in October, and I'm hoping it's cooler - I've never been to WDW during a cool(er)month. And as it turns out, MNSSHP is the same night, so we now plan to rest/pool during the day and head to MK for dinner and the Halloween festivities.

I say "when in Orlando"...visit the Kingdom!!!! Hope something magical works out for you too!!!

It definitely works out best for us to go to WDW. We are so bummed about having to leave the ship, that it really helps to have WDW to look forward to. We're going on the Sept 25 Wonder this year. And the plan is, that Thursday that we disembark, to take the Disney bus to AKL - have a leisurely day at the resorts and Epcot and then we're going to Victoria & Alberts at the Grand Floridian! We think it will work out perfectly since we will already have our dressy clothes with us.(since we usually don't take suits and dresses to WDW!!). Then we have a flight out the next day and ease ourselves back in to the real world. But that's just the 2 of us - it may be different with kids.
