Do you still get Pirate Night with SWDAS

We just booked the Eastern Caribbean sailing on the Fantasy on 1/28/17. When we first started, it was not a SWDAS...then they announced and changed it to a SWDAS. Does SWDAS replace the Pirate Night? Or is it in addition to? I want to pack pirate stuff, and maybe book the kiddos into the Pirate's League....but I wasn't sure how SWDAS affected that.

Does it change any other general itinerary things? Is there still a formal dinner (and semi-formal I think? still reading through posts)?

TIA!

In addition to, yes. But not the pirate night it is during non SW cruises. A lot less theming, no special dinner menu and theming, seemed like fewer people dressed up, no fireworks or buffet (moved to pirate night).

Experiencing both, I'd call the SW version a poor man's pirate night.

From what I have seen of released navigators SWDAS has a special menu, fireworks and buffet and no pirate night. If this changed it must have been very recently. I personally hope SWDAS HELPS GET RID OF THE TIRED OLD pirate night.

Correct - SW night has the special menu, stage show, fireworks, late night buffet.

Pirate night - you have the regular dinner menu for that restaurant. The pirate menu, which I like, is not available on the SW cruises. I did like the SW menu too - I would have liked both (on different nights).

So what DO they have on pirate night if there's no pirate menu, buffet, or fireworks? Do they still have stage shows? If so, is it still both the one with Mickey & friends followed later by one with "real" people and captain Jack? What about the dance party on deck?
Pirate night was one of the highlights of the cruise for my kids. I am getting more and more bummed that our cruise was chosen as one of the SWDAS cruises.

I think they do the early kids show but not the late show with the fireworks. If it wasn't for a few people dressed up like pirates you wouldn't know it is pirates night.

The pirate night menu was always one of our favorites. With another Pirates movie in the works, I doubt they will do away with it completely -- but as we know Disney is unpredictable.

Not sure how things will change next year but we were on the Feb 20th sailing (Western) this year with SWDAS. Pirate night was on Day 3 (Cozumel for us), the pirate show on Deck 11 was still on but there were no fireworks and no themed meal. It just served the regular meal for the dining room you happen to be in that night. For example, we were supposed to be in enchanted garden that night and they were serving what they regularly serve on a rotational day. We opted to go to Remy instead. The characters were all out in Pirate costume though, and lots of guests dressed up too. The Atrium was full of people taking pictures and the character lines could get long. So it's pretty much your regular pirate night aside from the meal and the fireworks.

I have a trip report about our Star Wars Cruise if you'd like to read. Day 3 was Pirate night. and Day 5 was Star Wars Day, which pretty much took over the whole day. There was Star Wars music playing everywhere ( I think the only place you could escape it is in your stateroom, the spa, and the adult restaurants, LOL) characters roaming around, some activities during the day, and the Star Wars themed dinner that night. There was the deck show and the fireworks which were awesome, plus there was a late night buffet which was Star Wars themed.

We were on the March 19 SWDAS. We had expected Pirate Night to be NBD, because of what I had read, and had Palo that night.

Well, it might have been NBD comparatively, but it was still pretty intense! LOTS of people were dressed up, they were doing Pirates League makeovers, Captain Hook was trawling the ship to see if he wanted to take it over (spent 10 minutes quizzing my son...trip highlight, needless to say), there were the shows on deck 11, and all the pirate characters (with insane lines for Hook and Pan)

We were VERY glad we had decided to bring costumes for the kids, and ended up wearing the DCL bandannas until it was time for dinner. There were even three separate couples in Palo in full-on-intense pirate outfits. The kids did all pirate-themed games and activities in the clubs

Agreed on all counts.

Wow thanks everyone, super helpful! We are planning to take costumes and go all out ourselves...and hopefully some others will as well! My nephews (5,7,15) are all super into Star Wars, as is my daughter (10), so they will be stoked about SWDAS....and since we don't have anything to compare the pirate night to since we're first time sailors, I'm going to approach it with the idea that it will be great!!

I'm booked for a SWDAS in January and excited about all the SW activities but a little disappointed to learn that Pirate Night is low key for these cruises. Nevertheless I still plan on packing my pirate costume and enjoying all the cruise has to offer.
