We have an old truck that we really only use when we need to haul things, but last night we decided to drive the truck to dinner to make sure that the battery started since it has been sitting in the garage all winter. I come into work this morning and had the following conversation with my coworker (let's call her Beverly).
Beverly: We saw you guys last night driving through the parking lot.
ME: Oh really.
Beverly: I'm sorry if this isn't any of my business, but I'm worried about you. Are you and your husband having problems?
ME: What would make you think we're having problems?
Beverly: Because when we passed you in the truck you weren't sitting next to him.
(I would have loved to have a photo of my face when she said that
)
ME: I haven't sat next to a guy in a truck since I was a teenager. My husband and I are doing well.
Beverly: I'm glad to hear that, but it seems to me that happy couples always sit next to each other.
Luckily my phone rang so I didn't have to continue that conversation.
