I've always liked the idea and picked one up but the family is teasing me alot. Do most hide the tube in the pack and only occassionally take out? Look like a big nerd with it? Not that I really care, but wondering.
I totally rocked the camelbak our last trip and intend to do it again. Great way to stay hydrated and its a nice small compact back pack to carry your valuables with you throughout the day. Your family may be laughing but I guarantee they will all want one by the end of the trip
I've never noticed anyone carrying one, but perhaps I'm just not very observant!
We always just stop to get water whenever we're thirsty - any of the quick-service kiosks that have soda fountains will give you water for free. I strongly prefer that to carrying around a bottle of water.
We use ours every time we are out for a day trip.. Hiking, zoo, amusement park... I don't hide the tube at all, just tuck it in one of the little straps. I've seen a few people with them when we have been out. Let your family laugh.. You will love having it, especially on a hot, sunny day!
We haven't used ours but have seen others use theirs. Envy time you or a kid can just drink rather than wait in in line at a food place just to ask for water, you will be glad.

FWIW, I can count on one hand the number of times we've had to wait in line to get water. It seems to me that this is one of Uni's best-kept secrets, honestly!
If you're comfortable wearing a Camelbak around, then by all means, carry it and use it! But don't feel like you won't be able to stay hydrated without it. Uni definitely wants their guests to be hydrated and happy, hence the free water throughout the parks.
