Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has used AAA for any discounts when they planned their trip to WDW....When i went to disney they didn't really give me a good deal and then i was told that you can't really use AAA for any discounts....But i have a friend and she said she went through AAA and recieved all kinds of discounts for her trip....Has anyone saved with AAA???What type of discounts do they give you????
Thanks

AAA discounts include:

Room only discounts through the Central Reservations Office for Disney. Typically, discounts are about 15% but vary according to season.

If you go to your local AAA office, you will probably be able to buy some type of discount park ticket, such as 4 or 5 day hopper passes. AAA discounts on these passes are pretty good.

In the parks, I don't think there is much in the way of discounts. However, many hotels that aren't Disney also offer AAA discounts, as do car rental agencies.

Even though Disney doesn't offer AAA discounts for food and merchandise onsite, I believe that Universal Studios/IOA does. I think it is something like 10% parkwide. (but don't quote me)

BTW--AAA does offer Disney packages through their travel agency, but I am not so sure that they are very good deals. Has anyone ever used these?

keep an eye for AAA rental car specials at Hertz. Last year (Aug), we eneded up with a 42% discount for our 4 day rental.

You can't really get much discount inside the theme park. However, you can use it for hotel discount, rental car (especially Hertz), better discount WDW pass prices from AAA orlando local offices.

I picked up a vacation planner at our local AAA office for both WDW and US last week and I did not think the package price was that great. I feel I can put together a better deal. They throw in a couple of bonuses I can't get myself, but I don't think the extra expense of the vacation package is worth it. We have never tried one of the AAA vacation packages, tho'.

I used the AAA room only codes for our upcoming trip. It is saving me about10%. The codes for the gen. public were way better but my timing was bad and I missed the boat on those.

By showing my AAA card, I saved 15% off regular rate for water mice rental at the Ft. Wilderness marina when I was there in March.

That must have been an unexpected surprise! That is good to mention as there must be other unexpected surprises/discounts like that out there! :thewave:

We were able to save 15% on our WL room only reservations for our upcoming trip. I booked through Disney CRO and told them I wanted to apply my AAA discount.

The ticket prices were the same as purchasing them early online through the Disney website or at our local Disney Store. I have read elsewhere, however, that ticket prices can vary from AAA location (i.e. AAA northern New England vs. AAA Fla) to location.

I did not check package prices because generally a package isn't the best deal for our family. Our kids are too young for the water parks, Pleasure Island, or Disney Quest. I would do a comparison to see if it works for your situation though.

We are using Disney transportation so I didn't compare rental car costs.

All this being said, I am still hoping for a room only discount throught Disney. Who doesn't want to see if they can get a better (hopefully) deal. But ,I'll still be content if this is the most savings I see. For us it was well worth the price of renewing our membership.

(Not to mention the roadside assistance and other savings we see throughtout the year.)

Hi again,
So tell me if this is right what i'm reading, you can get a discount on your disney hotels but that's it....
Thanks again

Last trip we got 15% off WL, tickets at the office-5% off, and our travel hotel, 20% off. in the past we got 15% or 20% off HDDR but not sure they still do that. We save more than enough every year to pay the cost of the membership.

We saved about 15% at the Rainforest Cafe last summer. I think we also had a diamond card and were able to get discounts at World of Disney. We always use it at Hard Rock Cafe, too. I think there are many discounts for other places. You can pre-purchase movie tickets for AMC theaters for about $6.00.

According to my diamond card info from last summer's visit there are discounts of 15% on water sports, spa treatments, resort marina rentals, golf, mini golf, Disney tours. Discounts of 10% on DD Marketplace, and various restaurants.

My best advice is to stop by a AAA office and let them go over the benefits with you.

The hotel discount can be substantial. Right now I have the Poly booked on a AAA discount at $285 a night with tax , rack rate is $333 with tax. Multiply that times five and you have more than paid for your membership. My AAA office offers the 4 day passes not pluses for $200 which I believe is a saving because mousesavers says even in advance they are $215. Some AAA offices offer even better deals. Often AAA has special disney cruise line promotions. Others have said you can save on your car rental, you can save on Amtrak. Major hotel chains offer 10% to AAA members. Plus if you drive and you get a flat or need a charge you are all set.

Each state's AAA negotiates its own deal with Disney, usually in January.

Yes, take your card to universal!

Is my AAA card only good in the state that i live in or can i use it at any state???

For september at night of joy...POP century without AAA $429, with AAA $343.....i think that is a pretty good savings...still hoping for a good code to make it even lower though!!!::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo

You can use your AAA card in any state you visit, as far as I know. Your AAA office should be able to give you a list of all discounts.

Don't forget.....if you drive down that AAA card may be worth its' weight in gold!!

In other words, there are more reasons to get a AAA card than discounts at WDW.
