Im planning my first ever trip to universal. Booking portifino and debating between 2 or 3 nights at the expense of a night from the Disney part of my stay.

I know that universal can be done in 1 or 2 days (especially since i wont be doing hulk or those roller coasters), but at Disney, i go for a week and looove to repeat epcot and magic kingdom multiple times in 1 trip and redo rides and be in the themed lands. Is universal like that? Does diagon alley, hogsmead, springfield etc make you want to keep going back and repeating same rides/lands another day?

I honestly don't get the 1 or 2 nights thing. We do 7-10 nights at Universal.

That is exactly how we feel about Disney and 1-2 days would be plenty at Universal but now with DA I would think at least 2 if possible.

More days the better no matter what vacation.

We do 4 full park days at Universal. We tour leisurely and repeat as the mood suits us

We do our Universal trips separately from our Disney trips. To me it's not worth spending the extra money to buy tickets to both, esp since it's so much cheaper to add days to tickets at Disney.

I like to do 4 days and tour at a more leisurely pace. I love repeating rides and attractions.

We have been doing both parks in 1 day for the past few years due to kids and the fact that we go at off peak times. I would much prefer 2 days though as I love going back a second time to see it all. Next trip should be 14 days so will definitely go for 2 days and one kid is old enough to start riding some rides there. Diagon Alley may force a third day though because it looks spectacular, even for this non Potter Lover.

We are planning 6 days at Universal for this trip. We are people who like to redo our favorite parks/rides/lands at Disney World, Disneyland and Universal during the same trip. I would do the 3 nights at Universal at the expense of 1 disney night since you have been to Disney and have never been to Universal, but that is only my opinion. If you don't add the extra day, you may regret that decision if you end up loving something and want to make it back there but don't have the time because you are pushing to see everything in 2 days. If you add the extra night and end up not needing or wanting the extra time to go back to redo things, you could just add in some relaxation by the pool - that's not such a bad worst case scenario to me. It will be a wonderful trip no matter which way you decide to go! :goodvibes

my way of thinking too.

i do a 5 night stay at the motherland and then 12 at the darkside.

Yeah, we like to enjoy things at our own pace. Also for me to really feel like I got my money's worth I like to enjoy everything multiple times over.

Our last trip to Universal was Dec 2012. We stayed 10 nights at Royal Pacific. We bought annual passes and were in the parks about 2-4 hours everyday. Sometimes a couple hours in the morning and then a couple more at night. We rode Spider-Man 20 times. We had one day where we went in our swim gear and rode the water rides over and over, what a blast !! We thoroughly enjoyed everything the resort had to offer many times over. We ate at half the restaurants at City Walk. We went to Blueman group VIP experience.went over to Wet and Wild. Some days walked over to parks/Citywalk multiple times, that's the great thing about staying onsite!

I really left feeling like I had a vacation and got my money's worth enjoying everything Universal has to offer. We do WDW the same way, we have 14 nights booked at WDW this December.

I guess it all depends what you want out of a vacation. People saying we did both parks in one day, I would leave feeling ripped off. Too much rushing around and I have don't want to be in any park from 8am to 10pm straight.

Honestly, we find it's too expensive to do both Disney and Universal in one trip, so we do either a Disney trip or a Universal trip. We don't try to squeeze them both into one vacation.

We'll be spending six full park days at Universal next month, and honestly, we wish we weren't getting in so late and leaving so early, because it'd be awesome to make it eight.

Basically, yes, you could do the Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios in one or two days, but you'd be going from open to close and rushing from ride to ride. And it's the same thing with Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios. We like to kick back, ride our favourites multiple times, take naps in the afternoon, see the shows, etc.

We'll quite happily spend a week in Universal!
