The family scenes were on the way out of Space Mountain. They showed such impossible things of the future as cordless telephones, intercoms, computers, and (gasp!) large screen television. Those crazy dreamers!
1-The caveman was in the World of Motion ride (it was replaced by Test Track). WOM was a dark ride similar to Spaceship Earth and Horizons, but was a comical history of transportation. I loved that caveman!! There are cavemen in SE, but they are telling stories around the fire and making cave paintings.
2-The paperboy is still in Spaceship Earth, but he doesn't say anything anymore (as I recall). When they refurbed SE a couple of years ago, they moved the little paperboy- he is in the same scene, but he faces away from us now.
I remember something so little about Disney but it is not a ride....the paper straws they used to use. What a pain they were when they stayed in the drink too long...WHY a paper straw???
The Penny Arcade when it really was an arcade with lots of games and the Magic shop!
From EPCOT-the extremely tall people with BIG heads that used to walk around in the countries!
Great memories!

I could have sworn I heard the newspaper kid the last time I rode SSE which was in August. He's still looking away from us (for some reason) but I think he yells his EXTRA! EXTRA! spiel. Of course it could have been my imagination.
I can remember being able to show up at a park and decide where you wanted to eat that very day and not have to make reservations 6 months in advance. That was still the case up to at least 2005.
When we arrived for our next trip in 2007, we couldn't eat anything but TS thanks to what we know now to be ADRs. Ah, the good old days........

I just watched a YouTube video of the newest version and it appears the paperboy is still there but they changed his screechy voice. And from what I can hear he doesn't say "New York Daily" anymore.

Y'all are probably right- I know the little guy isn't facing the passing people anymore, but I guess he still says "Extra, extra!" etc. Maybe he isn't as loud anymore, since he is facing away?
