Does anyone remember the gondola ride that crossed DL and went through the Matterhorn??? I all-of-a-sudden remembered it on our trip in Feb and I asked my friend who was with me if she remembered it and she thought I was crazy :upsidedow . But I'm sure of it!

Skyway to Tomorrowland http://www.yesterland.com/skywayfant.html

I particularly remember when my brother worked at the park, if he noticed/caught anyone dropping things off the gondola (people would throw beverages at people below, or even worse, spit on them) he'd stay under that gondola, walk & follow it, meet up with it on the other side and escort the culprits to security. It used to be something people would get escorted out of the park for doing.

I was gonna say i was really young but i do remember it! I don't know if i ever went on it but i remember it being there!

It was one of my favorite attractions, especially at twilight. :)

A friend of mine was one of the last ones to ride it back in 1994.

Wow! It was removed as recently as 94?? Hahahaha I wonder why my memories are so vague? :lmao:

That's something I really remember as a kid too at DLR. Is looking up and seeing those..

We always called them "the buckets", but the real name was Skyway to Tomorrowland.

I remeber them too, they still have them at San Diego zoo.

I loved the Skyway! It was awesome. I always loved exiting the Matterhorn and "bursting" out upon either Fantasyland or Tomorrowland.

I remember the rush of excitement getting into one of the gondolas since it was moving as you boarded it. I almost always rode it from FL to TL. I get a little reminiscent every time I walk past the Swiss/Bavarian influenced FL boarding area (Yes, it's still up there on the hill behind the trees).

I peek up there, too, whenever I pass.

I used to like to go through the Matterhorn & watch the bobsleds below (wayyy back when).

I've been talking about them for a couple of months now and EVERYONE thought I was nuts! I have a picture of myself at 11 on one :)
