I had brought this up on the Old Fogies thread and thought it would be interesting if people could remember the very first thing they bought online and share with us. Bills don't count!

I bought a case of Skybars from hometownfavorites.com. At the time, they were not available here, even though they have been made forever. I just remember thinking "The internet is the greatest thing in the world! I just ordered a case of candy bars" LOL
It's a candy bar that has four different flavors in four different sections.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think it was my first computer, directly from Dell (Before that we had a computer for the whole family). I thought it was the coolest thing ever!

Books - of course..;)

I used to love those Skybars - one of the very few candies I enjoyed as a kid.. Seeing that brings back memories..:goodvibes

I bought a classic winnie the pooh crib bedding set to give to my sister-in-law's at her babyshower. She had seen it in a store and fell in love with it but when she went back to purchase it she couldn't find it anywhere and was so disappointed. When she opened the gift she was so happy she cried (well we both did).

I bought a movie off Ebay. It was Boogie Nights :thumbsup2

I bought an unopened box full of unopened packages of New Kids on the Block trading cards. It was on ebay and me and my friends had a blast revisiting our preteen years opening them up and "trading" for our favorites! They were supercheap, so I felt like it was an $8 + shipping well spent. :thumbsup2

I think my first purchase was a Clinique perfume on EBAY that was discontinued and could only be purchased on the internet.

Don't remember my first purchase, but I do remember in 1994 debating for weeks whether to download a web browser and venture away from the safe online community on Prodigy, and venture onto this thing called the Internet.
After I downloaded it, then there was the tension wondering what was going to happen when I launched the software.
And as my son was cleaning out his room, he found paper work from his high school from the 2001 school year stating that a website was NOT an acceptable source for information for any school papers. Only printed books and documents were acceptable. Boy, has that changed in 9 years.

Movie script from The Color Purple off Ebay.

Fisher price little people fire truck and school bus from etoys when they offered $20 off of $20.

Well, uh I guess I need to join the old fogies thread. I cant remember:rotfl2:

you beat me to it! Actually I was going to say I was ready for the Old Fogies thread because not only can I not remember my first purchase I can't even remember my last purchase!

Okay you got me there, I remembered the last thing I ordered. Maybe that is a whole new thread.:rotfl2::lmao:

I am enjoying the heck out of this. Anyone over 30 is welcome at the Old Fogies! Actually, anyone who feels over 30 can join. We are all inclusive.

That is hilarious to the poster who found the paper stating the internet was not to be used for schoolwork. My DD 16, who already has her own laptop, got another one from school. For free. It's hers until she graduates. All the juniors and seniors got one as part of the "Golden Leaf" program. Remember the big tobacco settlement from several years ago, well they are now donating laptops to students. Next year, in my house, we will have FIVE. Mine, Haley's personal laptop, Hannah's personal laptop and they will each have a school laptop. And yes, they have to bring them home everyday.

I'm not bragging, I just remember how excited I was to get our first computer. It was an emachines desktop (cheapest desktop at Best Buy) and only dial up was available and no one knew that the internet could be faster. LMAO. Now we have wifi, and I can't imagine being without it.

The biggest thing I ever purchased online were bunkbeds when the girls were younger. They were handmade out of wood and had to be shipped in a tractor trailer. The driver couldn't even bring it to our house because we live on a dead end road and he had no place to turn around. My husband had to meet him in a church parking lot and load the boxes on to the back of his own truck. :rotfl:

The first thing I purchased was an Arabian horse Christmas stocking off eBay. :lovestruc

I remember buying airfare to visit my sister in law fro an online agent (probably Expedia) when I was pregnant with my daughter--so that would be 1996. I recall it very clearly because my father in law made such a big deal about how our credit card would be stolen:rotfl2: We may well have bought other things in the year or so before that (maybe even other travel), but that is the furthest back I clearly recall.

I am surprised none of the other answers have been travel related yet. I know we were booking hotels, airfare and rental cars long before much else was available online.
