Dh and I were having this discussion last night. If we are not busy running around with our kids, we both can totally veg out on the weekends and do nothing.

My brother and SIL are the total opposite, if they have nothing to do they need to find things to do to keep them busy.

SIL was a SAHM for a year, it drove her crazy and she was rearranging the furniture in the house weekly because she could not sit back and relax and just enjoy being with her children.

I was a SAHM for 15 years (just went back to work P/T this year) and the only time I ever felt the need to move anything in the house was at Christmas, and that was because I wanted the tree in front of the living room window!! LOL!!

Snow days drive SIL crazy, she hates being stuck in the house.

I love a good snow day, as much as I do enjoy the activites our kids do and do not mind driving them all over, snow days still bring out the kid in me and I can sit back and enjoy the unexpected day off.

How about you and your family? Are you a get up and go all day family or do you enjoy the time to relax and enjoy a day off??

I'm pretty lazy when I'm at home and my house shows it. I don't know how I would be if I didn't work though (it saps all my energy at times). I know lots of people that are very active (my best friend is one of them). It is rare that she just sits and does nothing. She's always cleaning or putting stuff away. It brings her great joy. There's nothing wrong with either lifestyle so long as you're happy with it.

Well it is just me, so I don't have to worry about running kids all over the place or anything. I like to do a combination of both. Somedays, especially during the winter or rainy days I enjoy being able to just relax and watch a movie or read. Other days I like to keep myself busy doing things, whether it is shopping, hanging out with friends, running or going to the gym, cooking/baking or working on my stamping and scrapbooking.

DH feels he needs to do "something productive" every day. It's hard for him to just sit down and relax, unless he is watching sports on TV, or has a good book to read then he doesn't mind relaxing for a few hours.

Me, on the other hand, I absolutely love relaxing at home!! :lovestruc The days where I don't have to get out and go anywhere or do anything (except maybe run the vacuum or do a couple loads of laundry, etc.) are days I treasure and thankfully, now that I'm "retired" I have more of those days to treasure than I used to. :goodvibes

I love spending some time every day on the computer, either e-mailing and chatting with friends on Facebook, or coming to message boards like this. I love watching a good movie, or a TV show that I recorded the night before that DH didn't care about watching. I love curling up on the couch with a cup of coffee/hot tea and a good book for a couple of hours. Or in the summer just sitting outside on the swing petting the cat. Or take a nice afternoon nap. Heavenly!!

I have never been one to "have to be doing something active" so as not to be bored.

Right now I am very busy listening to music and posting on the Dis. This is the most productive I will be today.:)

I am a stay at home mom. I'm very relaxed in my house, but I do try to do one "project" everyday in addition to my regular routine of homeschooling, cleaning, cooking. The project might by work on my blog, scrapbook, organize or clean something that needs it. I try to go to bed every night feeling like I've accomplished something -- no matter how small.

DH and I seem to have an unspoken system - Saturday we cram all the chores, necessary errands, etc into the day and Sunday we relax - I do my house cleaning during the week (evenings) when I can so I don't spend Saturday having to clean all day but we do go to the dump on saturdays, yard maintenance, grocery shop, etc on saturday's. Today I raked the leaves in the yard (that I ignored last fall) and we took one of the autos in for quick service appointment. Now DH is napping and I'm on the Dis - so I guess, yes, we relax at home.

Even though I'm retired (at least officially), I don't get a lot of time to just do nothing. I keep busy with my music and other projects around the house. I do like taking an afternoon nap when I can, though.

I work full time and have two kids, so I love days when I don't have a schedule to follow. I never need to find things to do to stay busy!

Yep, I love lazy days. I'm a university student so I end up with quite a few of them as well! I have no problem hanging out for a day in my sweats with my hair in a ponytail, watching terrible TV reruns and eating peanut butter out of the jar. I figure once I graduate, that'll be a lot more difficult to maintain.:rotfl:

It depends on the day. Sometimes I like to relax but other days, I feel like having a project. Right now, I'm turning my sewing room into more of a crafts room because I'm starting to do scrapbooking, so I'm definitely bebopping around the house and running back and forth to the store. Next weekend, my husband and I are going to the lake. I plan to fish and relax.

You sound just like me, I even was a SAHM for 15 years till October when I started part time and a preschool teacher 2 afternoons a week. Just like you, things only get moved for the Christmas tree to go in front of the window (and to vaccum, though probably not nearly enough!)

The kids things are so busy that I love a lazy day too. And snowdays, forget it, I look as forward to those as the kids. We play in the snow, do crafts, bake cookies. I just love it.

We try to have one weekend day out and one day in. It doesn't always work with 3 kids, but it happens a good amount of time and we love those lazy days!

i LOVE relaxing at home!!! i try to do it anytime it's possible!!!

Home is for relaxing or doing homework for me! DH works from home so when hes done with work its relaxing time for him, too.

We are like your sister in law-- HATE HATE HATE sitting around at home doing nothing. If we have nothing to do we find something to do! I hate snow days and being trapped inside.
I could also never do the stay at home mom thing. I do plan on retiring from my current job in 3 years but I will certainly get a part time job- couldn't just not work.

I work at home so...not really, wish I can relax at home but then seeing my computer reminds me that I have to get some work done.

I do enjoy just vegging out at home with nothing to do sometimes, but I wouldn't want to do it all the time.

I like to be busy about 75% of the time so that the 25% of the time I'm relaxing I can appreciate the break from the hustle and bustle of life.

I am always doing something. I have a very hard time sitting still. There are always things on my to do list. Next up is washing windows, and reorganizing the closet in the spare room. Then it will be working on the Suxy Ormand CD's and posting on Craig's list. DH on the other hand can relax any tmie, any olace, regardless of how many things on on his "honey do list".
