I woke up feeling horrendous today. Going to try to make it through work & then see if I can get a doctor's app't.

I have a terribly sore throat & a pounding headache-especially in my eyeballs & temples area.

I was talking to someone yesterday who has bronchitis & I am only coughing a tiny bit, but I'm wondering if this is how bronchitis starts? Or is it my sinuses?

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Strep???

Get to the doctor and feel better soon!!! :grouphug:

Sounds like a sinus infection that has caused post nasal drip which in turn caused the sore throat.

I hope you feel better...sounds like you need a good dose of antibiotics.

I agree. Sounds like a sinus infection (sinusitis). I get them every year as the seasons change.

Sounds like strep (I have 2 kids with it now). Hopefully it is, because it clears up super-fast after starting antibiotics.

Strep feels like the worst sore throat you have ever had. When I had it my ears hurt cause the glands in my neck were soo swollen. You really need to get to a doctor for the diagnosis. We only pretend to be doctors ;)

Hope you feel better soon. This is a nasty year for virus

sinus infection?

I don't think its the flu, unless you have a high fever (that's usually how it will start if it's really the flu).

If you press or tap lightly around your eyes (like maybe a circle around each eye extending about an inch from the eyeball), does it hurt? (this is usually something they check for in a sinus infection).

Re: bronchitis, I think the way it works is that if you have any kind of cold or virus for a while and cough a lot, it starts irritating your lungs(?). Then it turns into bronchitis. (there isn't really a bronchitis "virus" that you can catch from someone -- it's just an irritation of the lungs) So since you just started getting sick, it is probably not bronchitis.

Ok, I'm pretty sure it's the flu. I wasn't able to get a doctor's appt for yesterday. I started to feel a bit better & we went out to dinner with friends, but ended up leaving early because I started nonstop shivering & my body ached something awful:guilty: I had a rough night but Extra Strength Tylenol seemed to help. Still feel yucky, but the Tylenol is stopping the fever, aches, and shivers thank goodness.

I don't get the flu very often-how long does it typically last for?

This sounds exactly like what I had a couple of weeks ago. I started feeling bad Friday night, but went to a church council meeting the next day and my hips were aching so bad and I had a non-productive cough. The next day I had chills and was running a fever.
I ended up missing 3 days of work- bad backaches, chills, fever, nonproductive cough, exhaustion. Thursday I was well enough to go back to work with only a bit of aching at times. I didn't ever go to the doctor, but I'm 99% sure it was the flu.
Get well soon!

When I went to bed on Wednesday night, I felt perfectly fine. When I woke up on Thursday morning, my throat was a little sore. By about 9:30, I had a fever and a bad heachache. I went to the doctor. He did a strep swab, said I had strep throat, and gave me a prescription for Penicillin.

I ended up having to go back last night to get a steroid shot, because my throat was so swollen that I was having trouble swallowing anything. I woke up this morning feeling a little bit better, but the doctor told me to come back tomorrow if I didn't feel much better.

I would definitely get it checked out, though. I'm hoping my strep hasn't turned into tonsillitis. We leave for Disney in 2 weeks.

Forgot to add: I've had no congestion at all. Just a sore throat, high fever, chills, and body aches.

OUCH! I hope you feel better. Strep can be a nightmare, I assume he did a rapid test...not that typical with your other symptoms though, wonder if your lowered resistance has allowed you to get something else??? Goodness, I hope not  .
If you don't feel the MUCH better, I agree, get right back in...FLU, UGH, had it once and never want to experience it again, for me, almost as bad as chemo.
THINK positive and drink warm fluids, keeping hydrated as possible. You'll be GREAT for DISNEY!!!!!:grouphug:
Sending hugs and pixie dust your way!!!!:grouphug: :wizard:
