I love reading historical romance books and my favorite is series or 3 or more books.

I've read so many that its hard to find them anymore. Lets see I have read,

Johanna Lindsey the Pirates (can't remember the name)
Jude Deveraux Montgomerys
Nora Roberts Countless Series
I'm just finishing the Cynster Series by Stephanie Laurens.

Help!

A friend of mine writes historical romance novels. She has several series and trilogies. I enjoy her books. Check out the printable booklist on her website. Mary Jo Putney

I have enjoyed reading Mary Jo Putney's books.

While they don't exactly fall into the historical romance category my DD23 and I both enjoyed reading Adriana Trigiani's Big Stone Gap trilogy.

My all time favorite series of books is written by Diana Gabaldon. These can be quite addictive. I have read the series several times. They are quite thick, which is always a plus to me.

Outlander
Dragonfly in Amber
Voyager
Drums of Autumn
The Fiery Cross
A Breath of Snow and Ashes

Her books are very...umm....racy....and not your typical romance books but I love Robin Schone's books. They are amazingly historically accurate. There are only two that are a "series" The Lover and Gabriel's Woman. My all time favorite of hers is The Lady's Tutor though. I would recommend checking out the reveiws on Amazon though, because they might not be your style. But if you are willing to take a chance and like....graphic...then you might really like her. The same could be said for Emma Holly's historical novels (stay away from anything else she has written as they are FAR from romance novels! Unless that is what you are looking for...LOL!). Beyond Innocence and Beyond Seduction are the names of these two books and they are loosely connected.

The Julia Quinn books are quite fun and very similar to the Stephanie Laurens books. The Viscount that Loved me is the first one in that series I think. This sounds the most similar to the series you mentioned.

I would assume you have read the Judith McNaught series? They have been out for a while.

Lisa Kleypas, Catherine Coulter, Christina Dodd, Jane Feather and Mary Balough would all be similar to what you listed already as well and all have series.

I have read Mary Jo's books too.

Moo, the ones by Diana Gabaldon are they historical romance? Yes thickness is a HUGE HUGE plus!

Humm Judith McNaught, do you remember the name of the series?

I seriously have so many books that I could probably afford a trip to Disney if I sold them!

I don't think Judith McNaught had a series, but she has an excellent style of writing. I think it would be worth it to look & see if they still have her books out.

I can't echo this enough. Diana Gabaldon's books are so hard to put down. It'll become a favorite for you. I guarantee it. You'll fall madly, hopelessly, deeply in love with a fictional character, James Alexander Malcolm Mackenzie Fraser. :lovestruc Truly....and I feel sorta silly even writing that.

They are quite a read, though. I loaned my Outlander to a friend and she gave it back before she got into it because she thought it required too much brain power. :confused3 They also aren't too graphic in the hubba-hubba department. There's an entire website dedicated to the series call Ladies of Lallybroch. You can google it. :wave2:

Not exactly historical, althought its the 1800's in Egypt and not exactly a romance although the main characters fight like cats and dogs and get married, and not exactly racy, but they often have a "satisfied smirk" on their faces......

Elizabeth Peters novels with Amelia Peabody. Very tongue in cheek written by Amelia in a rather stiff form but you can tell all the other characters are laughing at her.

Technically are mysteries - " another shirt ruined Emerson! " " another year, another dead body, Sitt!" " good gad Peabody what were you thinking??" - as they are archeologists always digging close to but not finding King Tut. Refers to lots of real people of the time.

VERY ADDICTING - 13 books at least now

I love Mary Jo Putney's books!!!

I love series books!! I get too wrapped up in the characters to leave them behind!!!

Some of my favorites are:
Jane Feather's the Brides triology
Julia Quinn The Bridgertons... The first book is actually the Duke and I... the last one so far is the Its in His Kiss (#7)
Amanda Quick has some 2/3 book series... I love her books!!
Stephanie Laurens also has the Bastion club series
Victoria Alexander has an eleven book (so far) series out on the Effingtons... the first book is The Wedding Bargain

Not historical but another favorite is Janet Evanovich's the Stephanie Plum series and the Scoops series...

Hope some of those help!!

My favorite romance author of all time is Judith McNaught followed by Kat Martin. Kat Martin has the "necklace" series out that is very good. Mary Balogh's "Slightly" series is great too.

Susan Enoch is also worth a read. I too am looking for new authors b/c I have read almost all of them it seems. :)

Hmmm. I love Jude Deveraux and Johanna Lindsey. :)
Are you referring to Johanna's Malory series? There's about 6 of those.
Then she also has the Sherring Cross series (3), the Viking series (3), and the Futuristic/Historical Warrior series (3).

Jude Deveraux also has the James River series, Taggert series (which also runs into the Montgomery series & runs into the Legend series).

Have you ever read any by Janelle Taylor? I love her books too.
She has the Ecstasy Series, which deals with Native American/settlers History as well as the Lakota series. Her Moondust series, though not historical, is also really good.

I forgot about Mary Balogh's Slightly series... it is very good as well... Also, Celeste Bradley has the Spy series...

I liked the "Love Comes Softly" movies on cable recently. Has anyone read the books? Are they good?

There were three that went together...Whitney, My Love, then the Duke in that books brother has a book and then there is a prequel that takes place far in the past that establishes how they became Dukes.

Its been a while so the details kinda escape me. :)

I had to go look it up on Amazon. ;) Whitney, My Love, then Until You, the A Kingdom of Dreams.

May I suggest a great place to get books?

http://www.paperbackswap.com/

It's a place where people swap books in the mail. You start off by listing 9 books you are willing to send to someone on the website and you get 3 credits in return to get you going. You use your credits to order books from other members. Then, for every book you actually send you get a credit. When you're done with book that you order from someone else you can keep it or you can re-list it. Since you get a credit by sending a book, the cost of each book you receive in return comes out to be about $1.60 in postage. Quite cheap!

From the website:
  1. List at least 9 or more books in the system to become an active member and receive 3 free credits to get you started trading. List as many books as possible to be more successful in trading.
  2. Browse our online list of books posted by club members, and use your credits to order books.
  3. Selected books are delivered right to your mailbox, for free!
  4. When other members order books that you’ve listed, you mail them from your mailbox and you pay the postage (usually $1.59).
  5. You get one credit (good for one book) for every book you mail when it is received by the club member who requested it.
  6. List as many books as you like. The more books you mail to other members, the more credits you'll receive.

I liked Christina Dodd's governess bride series.

Also, there's some by Cathy Maxwell that all tie in together. I don't think they have a title, but Temptation of a Proper Governess, The Price of Attraction (or is it seduction, haha!) and In the Bed of a Duke all have related characters in them.

I get mine used off Amazon.com for pretty cheap. I tried half price books for awhile, but that doesn't usually work if you're looking for something specific.

I was actually quite upset that I had read the last one!! I hope we won't have to wait too long to hear back from Jaime and Claire!! Absolutely addicting. I didn't care too much for the Lord John book that she put out but I read it anyway because I READ ALL HER OTHER BOOKS!!! Amy :sunny:

Regarding the Outlander series and Diana Gabaldon: She really wanted to be mystery writer, but she doesn't have the talent for it. I began to get annoyed at the later books in the series (after DIA) that she always tries to incorporate a mystery in the story. It irritates me and makes the plotline drag. JMO. :smooth:

I also did not read her Lord John Grey novels. I didn't find him compelling enough of a character to read an entire book on him.

She has plans to "one day" write the prequel to the Outlander series about Brian and Ellen. Now THAT would be great! I wonder if it will ever happen though because she has so many other works planned as well.

I still love these books. (and Jamie :lovestruc ) Dragonfly in Amber is my all time favorite book.

OP, please read The Outlander. :goodvibes You'll be hooked!
