Do you read " Go Ask Alice " when you were younger?

I've been whistling "Tie a Tellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree"...ALL DAY long! I wonder why??????:rolleyes1

Anyone remember "Lisa Bright and Dark"? It was about a girl who was mentally ill. I must have read it 100 times, each time I was more and more convinced I was going crazy too. Teenage girls are so impressionable :lmao:

Yeah I forgot about that one

You all can remember much better than I can, so maybe you can help me with a book that I read during my teen years (late 70's early 80's). I vaguely remember the plot. A girl goes off to boarding school for the first time, has a roommate who golfs, the girl's heroine was Katherine Hepburn, she is dying to get into Bryn Mawr and she ends up having a crush on an older female student. Does anyone remember this one?

Sadly, I don't even remember how it ends. :lmao:

TIA!

Who remembers " The Best Little Girl in the World " ? There was another one also but I can't remember the name. Both were about girls with anorexia. I used both as guides to help me lose weight. I don't think that was what you were supposed to do.

Yep, I had that one too. And yet another made into a movie, this one starring Jennifer Jason Leigh.

From all the other 'Girl' books listed on this thread.....I think its safe to say...SHE DIED!:lmao: :lmao:

Oh, god, somebody just had to mention Seasons in the Sun. I know that song is total dreck, but for the past 33 years I haven't ever been able to hear it without bawling. It hit number 1 on the Billboard chart on March 2, 1974, and my father died 7 days later, after a 2 yr. battle with cancer. I had just turned 12. The song followed me EVERYWHERE and was a constant reminder of what was happening to us; I even heard it on the car radio on the way back from the funeral service, when my uncle thought turning on the radio might lighten the mood a bit. Even now I'm tearing up just thinking about it.

Great thread! Since we're remembering stuff from the seventies, there were two movies that I've been wondering about. They were strange because they starred the same girl (I think she was Patty Duke) and the movies were very similar.

In one, she falls in love with a black man. In the other, a Japanese man. They go through all kinds of pain for loving each other, and in both the boyfriend dies. The black man was shot dead, and the Japanese man dies due to Hara-Kiri (sp?).

I've wondered for years if I really saw those movies or it was all in my imagination, lol, it just seems strange that she'd be in two movies with so many parallels.

Do they sound familiar to anyone?

I remembered My Sweet Charlie for sure, but had to search for the other one. Could it be If Tomorrow Comes?

there was a case where a REAL family provided her with their deceased son's diary in hopes it would be published as a cautionary tale about suicide only to find the finished product contained only a handfull of actual diary entires and their son depicted (baselessly) as a suicide victim as the result of satanic involvements:sad2:

Jay's Journal.

Yes, that's it! I remember clearly the couple going to tell their parents they had married only to find out the US was at war with Japan.

My Sweet Charlie.....that must be it. I remember that she was pregnant, and that he was killed at the end. I was very, very young when I saw those movies so I don't remember much, but thanks for finding this information!

Does anyone remember "Bad Ronald"? It was a movie about a guy who lives in a secret room in a house and spies on the people who live there. I saw it when I was about 8 and scared me to death !!! :scared:

I remember being creeped out (and still am) by the movie Fallen Angel with Richard Masur and Dana Hill.

Man, Masur gave me the creeps!!

I remember that one. I felt terrible about poor Ronald. Those kids at his school were hateful!

Wow, completely forgot about My Sweet Charlie.

Way off topic, but did anyone else have one of these dolls?:
