...And the couple times we've asked for specific room #s, we've ended up as far away from that room as possible, very different kind of view, etc. I don't think room assigners like too specific!
I certainly hope the room assigner is not penalizing guests for being too specific.

VGC does make an effort to meet requests, but earliest reservation seems to get priority (an advantage for owners). My VGC requests are a list of specific rooms, and I created maps to assist other guests (linked in my signature).

We almost always reserve our room right at the 11 month mark and almost always put in one request. Usually it is high floor or close to something or other (elevator when my mom was traveling with us). I found that the close to the elevator request was almost always met. The request for a high floor has very rarely been met. The last 4 times I have made high floor my only request at BLT (lake view), we have ended up on floor 5 or 6. :( The one time I didn't make a request, we ended up on the 14th floor, even numbered room, last room at the end (I think the room number ended in 02) with an awesome view of both MK and the lake. pixiedust: So now I wonder if they reward those who don't make requests?

I did not make a request for my current BLT visit, and received 11th floor MK view (checking out today).
Even more amazing, the villa was ready when we arrived at 11AM!

I imagine that inventory varies widely on any given day. Then layer that with housekeeping's schedule, which probably does not take into account any outstanding requests. Basically, I guess it's a crapshoot, as "room ready" seems to be equally as popular as getting an exact request match.

We always email our request. We get them about 50% of the time. Just be prepared that they don't always come through. We always try to find a positive for whatever location we get.

We've had our initial requests met one time out of nine resort stays. The good news is, most cm's are willing to work with you to find a more suitable room then the one assigned, if there is one available. :)

I never request and have never been dissatisfied. We always have a great room with a lovely view! The only request I can foresee making is when we eventually stay at AKV, I will want on the savanna that has giraffe.

This all reminds me of what happened on our last trip to OKW. I'd requested Miller Road, but we've always driven. When we got there we were placed on Penninsula Road, and I was just OK that we didn't get our request-at first. By the second day, I realized that Penninsula Road was so much better for us, since this time we didn't have a car and had to use bus transportation. We loved that we were right by the bus stop, and it was the first bus stop. I remember saying that it was like the room assigner looked at my request and said "No, you don't really want to be there this trip, it's much better for you to be here this time". BTW, it was the first time my request for Miller's Road wasn't met, as well as, like I said, the first OKW trip with no car. I'm so glad I gave the room assignment a chance!
