Do you pretend to text in awkward situations?

When your friends are fighting and you feel like a third wheel.
When the guy you like sits down next to you, and you have nothing to say.
When you're waiting for someone.
When people start making out (or more) on the movie you're watching with your parents.
When a strange, weird person starts talking to you and you're trying to ignore them.

I love when I actually have someone to text at the moment, but sometimes that's just not possible. So I pretend to text. Do you?

When the guy you like sits down next to you, and you have nothing to say. Eh, that probably doesn't happen. I can come up with some of the weirdest topics in boring conversations.
When you're waiting for someone. I text someone, for real.
When people start making out (or more) on the movie you're watching with your parents. I make noises, like clearing my throat. If it goes on, then I actually tap them and tell them to get a room.
When a strange, weird person starts talking to you and you're trying to ignore them. I avert my eyes, fiddle with my phone, or actually do text.

Yeah, I've been told I'm brash/rude/whatever else you can come up with. But in the above situations, I put what I've done or what I'd do.

And I get what you're saying about actually texting, but sometimes I have nobody to text. They're either in work or school, or I've already texted them and they haven't responded back yet (I hate texting multiple times.)

LOL OHHH! Awkward - that happened in Star Trek the other day. I just averted my eyes and pretended I wasn't paying attention.

I hang out with the rebels..we all text during school.

2. I think it's extremely catty. We're big kids. It's easier to confront the situation or deal with it directly than, in my opinion, act like a 12 year old.

The only time I really do it is during the school year, when I'm walking aroudn campus and see someone that I reeeeeally don't want to talk to. I definitely bust out my phone then. haha

I don't use my phone often enough... I do randomly bunch up my coat, if i'm carrying it. I'll fold it in half and put it over my arm, then after a while, i'll unfold it, then fold it again... It's weird.
