Do You Prefer to Drive or Be a Passenger?

I always drive. I love to drive, and I get motion sick if I'm a passenger (can't even look in my wallet) so it works out. If we are going someplace where I know I won't be driving, I take meclizine. Big drawback to that is I spend most of my time dozing off!

I definitely prefer being the passenger, always have but has gotten worse since we moved.
We have several roundabouts in every direction and I hate driving through them.

When it comes to road trips, everyone has their own preference. Do you enjoy the freedom and control of being behind the wheel, or do you prefer the relaxed experience of being a passenger? On short trips, I don't mind doing the driving but on extremely long road trips, I prefer being the passenger as I can enjoy the scenery and relax. What about you?
Sadly, neither. If I drive, I feel more in control, but I can't relax actually. If I'm the passenger, I'm still watching out for the driver.

I think I pretty much only drive in the car with DH and I prefer for him to drive. I'm one of those people who falls asleep on any form of transportation (flight, car, train) almost immediately so I set up a podcast and then kind of snooze away.

Depends on which vehicle we take.

If it’s my vehicle, I want to drive. I feel a certain freedom when I hit the road and I control the music if I’m behind the wheel. I hate how DD18 drives and DD15 is still a few weeks from her test, so there’s zero relaxation with them behind the wheel. I don’t mind DH driving but he whines about how his truck is better than my car, so it’s annoying.

If it’s his truck, I’ll drive but I’m not a huge fan. I can also sleep without him complaining so there are perks to taking the truck.

Passenger on a plane I deplore road trips and avoid them like the plague !!!
If for some horrible unavoidable reason I must do one if it’s short I’m a passenger if it’s long we switch off I’m complaining the whole time as to why we couldn’t fly anything over two hours I want to fly there

I don't drive. I mean, I never got my license. I'm always the passenger, and I prefer it, I think. I am continually amazed when people drive on highways and such where it all looks the same, and not getting hopelessly lost. Or my sister, who is usually the one driving us somewhere, getting lost and telling me we're going to have an adventure. I would freak out.
Google maps on your cell phone is your friend.

My sister uses the GPS on her phone. I can't tell you how many times I've heard "recalculating" whenever she takes a wrong turn. Myself, I have a really lousy sense of direction. If someone is trying to get me to a place I've never been, Google Maps would not help-I am hopeless.

Just turn the audio on on Google Maps, it will tell you exactly when to turn, what exit to take, everything. And yes, if you don't follow Googles directions, it will recalculate to still get you where you want to go. My wife accuses me of taking wrong turns just to irritate Google, LOL

I generally don't have a preference, it depends more on who is doing the driving. Some co-workers are reckless and drive excessively fast. If we happen to be on a business trip together, I will drive or we drive separately. Going somewhere with friends/relatives doesn't really matter to me.

Rented a car last week when out of town on vacation and tried using one of those GPS phone apps for the first time. My car at home has the GPS system built-in that works great but obviously not portable. The phone app was terrible as it often told me to make a turn AFTER we had already passed the intersection and often gave directions that made no sense. Clearly some of these work better than others. Deleted that app once we got home and will look for another one that works better next time I am going on vacation.

I have to drive. I can't sleep in the car, my wife hates to drive and will admit I am a better driver than she is. I can drive up to about 9 hours per day. Any more than that and I am taking two days or flying.

I prefer to be the passenger but I get car sick if I am the passenger so I always drive.

If we're driving in the mountains, somewhere scenic, or anything twisty turny with big drop-offs, I prefer to drive. Trips that involve lengthy highway driving (like down I-95) I like to split up that driving, and I prefer the passenger time.

I usually have to be the driver, but I don't really enjoy driving. If I ever won the lottery, I think I would employ a driver!
