Do you prefer orca wild or captive

because this is also a cause for another poster - see post #17.

Actually, I have no cause! :confused3 I just wanted to point out the pros and cons, as i see it. Now, IMO, the OP and poster #4 seem to be hip deep in the orca movement! :lmao:

sorry--it was a typo. I fixed my post.

I couldn't figure out how this question came out of left field until somebody mentioned it's a much older thread. I'm guessing from the time of the Tillikum incident?

It's still such a weird question (to me). I think common sense would dictate that we would love for wild animals to remain wild. But in the case of rehabilitation where it is not safe for the animal, or an animal born domestically who is not ready to be introduced to the wild, I would like to see them kept in as humane a way as possible.

Zoos do serve a great function. Not only do they teach the public, but they also help to conserve endangered species and help to reintroduce these species back into the wild. Animal Kingdom a couple of years ago actually sent several white rhinos over to Africa as part of a reintroduction project. If I'm remembering correctly, one of the rhinos has since had a baby.

No worries...I was just a little puzzled! My wife tells me that I get on a soapbox at times and get a little preachy; but I didn't think that I was too bad this time! :lmao:
