Do you pay bills online

Yes, I rarely write checks.

Same here, i hate to be old fashion but when you do it only line it isn't like they take the money out of your account the next day, it could be at any time, and I hate that

If it is free to pay it online than I do. I probably only pay three bills with a check.

I do most online, but find some of the online setups frustrating. Most frustrating, the Federal Student Loan website. You can't pay a bill on it's due date. You have "schedule" a payment 2 "business" days in advance, and if you schedule it too late in the day (which really is early in the day for those of us on the west coast), it's 3 business days. Holidays don't count.
I had a payment due on Monday, went to schedule it on Friday, on a holiday weekend, but it was too late in the afternoon, so it was not applied until the following Thursday.

That's so true, we pay most everything online, some with the click of a button, some with the click of 50!!!! :scared1:

I pay the majority of my bills online. All are through my bank, so easy peasy. My only monthly bill I need to write a check for is my kid's tuition.

Other than the slight concern of online security, I prefer it. Since I run a Malwarebytes and extra virus scan each month before paying bills, I feel pretty confident.

I think I would give up if I had a bill that was so cumbersome as some that you guys are describing.

My bank has bill payment for no charge. I only pay through them. I figure only having one institution will help decrease any problems. So far, it has been wonderful. I NEVER have any bills automatically paid from my accounts. I have heard of too many problems with them. I go in monthly and submit each one myself. Some are paid electronically and some they write checks for. I can see the checks in my account and images if I want. I pay bills every 2 weeks so some are paid very early and some closer to their due date. I'm never late and that is a relief. I go trough a book of stamps about every 6 months now.

I usually do, but I'm heading back to old fashioned check-writing. Too many issues with online payments.

So far I haven't had any problems with on-line payments. In most cases the payments come out immediately or on the day I specify. However I have noticed that there is a lag time with payments clearing through DH's small bank while my bank which is huge is real fast. I wonder if that causes some problems sometimes?

I've had far more problems with the few vendor payments I've made by check over the last 12 years than I have with the online payments I've made. We've written less than 400 checks over that time. Paper checks are really only worthwhile, for us, for donations and such at church. Everything else we prefer go through the bank.

Nope. We've always paid by check, and will continue to do so. I still write checks when I'm shopping in town too.

I pay the majority of our bills online. There are very few that I write a check for. There are also a few bills that I actually pay cash for every month.

Yes all bills are paid online or by credit card. We write maybe 1 (Disney!!) check every couple months (usually a gift).

We pay all of the bills online that we can. Love it! Never had a problem at all.

Hey , your going to far now :rotfl:

I don't think so. :) We don't have a debit card. I know people who have had trouble with theirs plus when we had an ATM card years ago I was always forgetting to write it in the check register so then we'd be overdrawn, don't want that happening with a debit card so it's easier for us to just write checks. Most places have the machine that writes it out, so it really doesn't take any more time than a debit or credit card transaction anyway.

Plus I like my pretty outdoorsy checks! :)

We use billpay. We do not let them "pull", we "push". What this means is, we set up electronic payments telling our bank to send money. For companies that do not have electronic billing, we can send a paper check through billpay. In those cases, it must be set up a few days ahead of time to ensure that it is received on time.

No company is set up so that they can "take" money form our bank account. We use billpay, the service provided through our USAA bank account. We LOVE it!

Bonus, if wire transfers are not your thing, you can set it all up with paper checks. Saves me tons of stamps. (The service is free.)

I write about 3 checks a year- everything else I pay online and things like electric, gas, insurances, cell phone bill and any other bill that is the same every month I have them just take it directly out of my checking account that way I never forget to pay things!

Most of our regular bills are electronic draw. I don't have to think about it. I pay my cc bills online. I seem to only write checks to the school.
