Do you park between the lines?

Allyandjack, I am :rotfl2: at picturing that!

Today when I dropped DS off at summer school, I noticed this which is why I brought it up. There were parents parked in the lots waiting for their kids to come out of the school and there were two cars in the lots parked diagonally, and I was just wondering why??? What's the purpose? :confused3

I know how to park. I'd like to add to this though...

When you see a small car in a parking spot, does your depth perception suddenly get all wanky and cause you to park 6 inches away from it? Do you think it is farther away since it looks small?

I am so sick of having to squeeze into my car!
OH MY GOSH I so agree with this. Our mustang has rather large doors, so I park square between the lines in it to make sure I'll be able to get in, if anything I would park closer to the right line so that I would have more space on the driver's side (NOT over the line though). Anyway, I come out of class one day and this HUGE suburban (the 80s version-seem bigger than the suburbans of today) was WAY over in my space. I couldn't open the door at all. I finally manage to crawl across from the passenger side (not easy with a stick shift) and get into my seat. Then I realize that I can't see to back out of the space!! I ended up stopping some guy walking through the parking lot to get him to help me back out because I couldn't see anything around that massive car. I did consider leaving notes on the car, but decided against it.

T&B, I have actually done that. Let's just say I had a really crappy car that was on its last few miles. Someone parked like that near the front of a store. The spot next to them was the only one open. So I parked there leaving them very little room to get into their car. If they dinged my car, it would have helped the look. Sorry, I was a moody teenager and I'm slightly evil.

You know what's worse than a slighty evil moody teenager (I have one of those living in my house--I know ;) )? A perimenopausal woman!!! :lmao: Yep, don't mess with me... :teeth:

I was just at 2 grocery stores and I didn't see any examples of terrible parking, but I did see some bad cart pushing in the store (of course operated by a cell phone user), but that's a different thread. :rotfl2:

What I love even more are the ones who park bad and then cause you to park bad due to there being no other spots left. Then of course they leave first making it look like you parked like an idiot on your own. This happens a lot in my work lot

Just curious. I'm just a rule follower, even to the point of parking perfectly even in an empty lot!
Me too. But I have seen people park in a diagonally parked car.

There is a mother at my kids school that has a giant suburban, and she always parks backing in, and she always is over the lines.

Drives me crazy because parking is so limited there.

When I back in, I make sure I am in the lines, if not, I readjust. I dont know how this mother doesnt see she is parked wrong.

My last car was very old and beat up. When people feel the need to protect their wonderful automobiles and park over lines so no one can park next to them, I've parked very close to their driver side door so they have a difficult time getting back into their car. If there were to ding my old car with their door, it doesn't matter.

I learned my lesson when I was 16. I had a shiny new Camaro and parked at the mall and took up several spaces. Somebody ran a key down both doors. I was sick.

I now park between the lines, but park way away from everyone else.

Oh good. Now I don't feel so evil. ;) :rotfl:
That is the only reason I miss that old beat up car. It was useful in crazy mall parking lots.

T&B - I don't know whats worse. People pushing shopping carts while on their cell, or kids on bikes while on their cell.
