Do you pack two bags

Before we leave home I pack our suitcase and pack a backpack for the parks. I always pack the park bag the night before after we get home from the parks no matter what time it is. I have 2 kids so there are things that we need just to make it easier on all of us!

I do the same thing otherwise I know I'd forget something in the excitement of getting ready in the mornings!
Tink, I pack 2 bags in addition to my checked suitcase. I have a carryon for the plane and another bag for my park items.

In the past, my DH and I have each packed one bag. I pack a collapsible backpack that we use in the parks to hold our water bottles, sunscreen, external battery, my little travel kit (bandages, hand sanitizer, aspirin, extra hair bands, etc.) and any purchases we make in the parks.

I know there are a lot of people who don't want to carry extra bags in the parks, and I've toyed with the idea of getting rid of our backpack for our next trip. It would be really nice to not have to go through the bag check line at park entry, I just don't think I can do without the convenience!

While I have a separate bag that I can use to take to the parks, it really depends on the park, the weather of the day, and what I plan on doing if I actually take the bag with me to the parks.
If at all possible, I try and go bagless to the parks. Everything I need I can fit in my pockets or attached to my person.

When we went in January, we packed a packable backpack in our carryon backpack. Transferred anything we might need into the packable backpack and took that into the parks. Weather was cold, so we had jackets, hat and gloves, blanket, phone charger, snacks, water bottles. If it was too much to carry, we rented a locker in the front and moved stuff in and out as we needed ($7 for a small locker with unlimited in and out privileges). When we go in the summer, we're hoping to have it down to one backpack (or no bag at all), but with a toddler, we always have SOME stuff we like to have on hand.

I pack a checked luggage and carry on backpack and bring a small crossbody purse for the parks that I will put things from my luggage in that I need in the parks like wallet, phone, poncho, travel hair brush.... etc

I have made the transition to using a fanny pack in the parks now and I refuse to be ashamed of it (I actually wear it over a shoulder with the strap across my chest and the bag itself in the small of my back most of the time because I find it more comfortable). It hits just the right balance in terms of not feeling like I'm hauling around a big bag but still having a secure, zippered place to put things I don't want to lose when I'm on a ride.

When DH and I travel, I have a several types of day bags that I can easily pack flat in the carryon. Normally I bring 2 different sizes, I have a fold up one that can fit in DH cargo shorts pocket, when its unfolded it will hold quite a bit and has long straps so you can use it over the shoulder, and a more canvas style with adjustable straps for if we are going to be away all day from the resort, or we use it pool side, to hold towels, cover-ups, snacks, glasses, and phones. I use a small cross-body Dooney and Burke for all my personal items. See the list below.

DH and I are empty nesters, and are AP and Fl. residents so we visit a lot... I use a small Disney Dooney and Burke cross-body purse...I have a small wallet, glass case, phone, foldable brush with a hair band wrapped around the handle, a small zippered medicine pack (4X3) - that holds a couple of band aids, tummy pills, pain reliever, alcohol wipes, and a few allergy pills. Hand sanitizer clipped on the strap, some hard candy, a couple of cough drops.

If the whole family is with us, there is a back pack full of stuff... Snacks, water bottles, extra complete outfits for the grandkids (2 outfits)... depending on the age maybe more, including a pair of shoes and a couple pairs of socks. Rain jackets, anti bacterial wipes, small hand towel, hand wipes, and Kleenex. Sun Screen, hats, and something to keep them busy at the table during meal time, and some type of small toys for when we are in line, that can be tucked in a pocket quickly. Light weight blanket depending on the time of year. We take in a stroller so we have somewhere to put it.

When our DD's were little, I used a list to repack the bag every night for the next day, this way stuff did not get left in the room... DH would go back over it in the morning, and when the DD's got older they would help and double check the list. Also I found out that getting sun screen on the kids was easier in the room and let it soak in, instead of fighting with them in the parks...
