I was watching Animal Planet last night and it was all about tarantulas. I can't believe how many people keep these things as pets. Not just one per household. A lot of people that have them have multiple spiders. I freak out when I see a daddy-long leg. I couldn't imagine being in the same room as a tarantula. :scared1:

I used to have a red-haired throwing tarantula, but was too scared to fee it the cricketts, so I gave it away.

Why did I buy it.? I thought it was cool, until I had to feed it. :rotfl:

When I was a kid I had a friend who had a pet tarantula in her basement. I used to sleep over her house, but would NEVER go in the basement after I saw the spider because I am very afraid of them. One time I was supposed to sleep over but for some reason we couldn't sleep in her room, so the only option was the basement. I don't think I ever called my mother for a pick up as quickly as I did that night! :faint:

Heck no! Even the smallest Spiders give me the heebee geebees!!!

Well, I'm allergic to cats and dogs, so I've had no choice but to have "different" kind of pets. So yes, I have had one. I've also had iguanas and other lizards, turtles, a variety of snakes, salemanders, frogs and fish. These things just don't bother me at all. The spider was a bit much when she ate (lord what a grusome sight that was) but other than that I was fine with her. I didn't mind seeing the snakes eat their mice but for some reason the spider's eating habbits made me feel unwell.

Heck no! You are talking to a person that's afraid of ants if there are more than 10. If I saw a tarantula I would probably faint right aside it and get bit. Yikes!

How the heck did you train it to throw hair :confused3 ..and why red-hair, didn't it like blondes? :sad1:

When younger my best friend 5 door up the street had 1 + a scorpion +rat snake all in his room ( gifts from his older brother ).This was a rowhouse in the middle of baltimore city.

Now his brother put himself through college by going and capturing all kinds for research and zoos.He had blackwidows, alligator (behind the washer/dryer)pythons,boa copperheads .One day we were playing in the basement he called and asked us to clean a tank he would need as soon as he got home .As we waited he dumped his bag and it was a king cobra .

He is now the currator for the Nat.Aqu.in baltimore taking care of all none aquatic animals (Austian and rainforest).

Not any longer. It died. But my daughter was given one for her 21st birthday by a friend and we had if for about 2 1/2 years. She was leaving to work in JApan and I was praying that it would die before she left because while I didn't freak with it in the house there was no way I was going to feed, water and clean its terrarium. No way, no how. Well fortunately for me it died a wek before she left.
Not a pet I would choose but I did allow it in the house in a locked terrarium. And never took it out in front of me.

It would send me into convulsions to know that there was a spider that was easly the size of my hand or bigger in my house while I am asleep. :scared: :crazy2:
