Speak any thing other than English?Wife can speak Spanish,DS French and I German.Odd bunch we are wish we all would have picked Spanish in college.Just one of those Sunday kinda silly questions.:earsboy:  :earsgirl: :sunny: :teeth:

spanish, a teeny bit of french, and i took latin for 5 years, but i don't think i could speak it. :p

I am a native Spanish speaker, Dh can speak French and Spanish learned from school, my kids understand Spanish somewhat, but do not speak it :(

I speak persian fluently and can speak spanish (learned from school).

Just a spattering of German, and I can understand a word here and there of Spanish but that's it. Nothing fluent.

If I ever say anything in French, my kids usually know they're in trouble-even though they don't understand what I'm saying.:teeth: I'm not fluent in French, but I know enough of the basic stuff. I can read it a lot better than I can speak it.

One example is the counting rule. I give my kids to the count of 5 to stop misbehaving or to do whatever they're asked to do. If they don't do it, they know they'll go to time out-NO questions asked. My ds will wait until I'm between 4 and 5 before he'll behave. If I start it up in French, he knows I'm counting, but he gets confused about the numbers and I usually just get in between un and deux.;)

Sign language.

I am a fluent signer and my son learned his first sons around his first birthday. he couldn't say please until he was two, but he could sure sign it. His first sign sentence was "more cookie please". he is hearing but he is learning so that he can accompany me when we visit our deaf friends.

how sweet isyne4u!!! I wish I had learned sign language!

I took 2 years of spanish. My mom knows quite a bit but isn't fluent. She has some books in Spanish. I'm not planning on taking anymore Spanish in school, but hope to learn more independantly.

My dad remembers only a little bit of German and my mom used to be pretty fluent in Russian but doesn't remember it at all anymore.

I know enough Spanish and ASL to get by in a normal conversation. I used to be practically fluent in ASL years ago, but forgot a lot due to lack of use.

I also took 5 yrs of latin and can read a little of it. I know the Greek alphabet and a smattering of French and Italian from my Grandmothers.

Dh can speak French fairly well.

<font color=navy>I can speak & write Spanish pretty well, and I know a smattering of German (tiny smatter). If I go to Germany, it doesn't take long for me to pick up the language again.

I wish I knew ASL. I would like to know that one. :)

I took four years of french in high school, I can understand and speak a little, but you've gotta be totally immersed for it to really sink in, n'est pas?

DH is from Syria, speaks fluent Arabic and English. Now that is the language I now want to learn. Just too many oddball cousins coming over and speaking it...I wanna know what they're saying!

Did I mention that DH's parents are coming for a visit very soon, in August? They speak no English. Wish me luck!

I know fluent child-level Dutch. I also know a few Texas dialects but that's another thread. :p
