Do you open doors or like to have them opened for you?

I like it. And I will hold open a door for men, rather than just letting it slam in their face.

ITA

I don't want or expect anyone to open my car door however.

ALways open a door for a lady, child or elderly

I thought Momma always said life was like a box of chocolate? :teeth:

I do hold doors for Ladies and the elderly....it is a simple enough courtesy that ackknowledges both kindness and respect....

Sometimes, i am surprised when I hold a dooor and the person I am holding the door for is surprised that I am doing so....

makes me wonder what happeed to the civaltries in that persons life...

Actaully I say the more the merrier!;)

I open doors for my SO and my kids. My ds will stometimes rush to get out of the truck to open my door for me sometimes though.:) I can't remember my SO ever opening a door for me. I'm weird about doors anyway. I feel like I should open doors instead of having people open them for me. But I do gush when my ds opens my truck door for me.:)

Yes, I open doors for Simba and Cali.:teeth: They like me to open them for them also, they especially like the door with their food in it open, and the fridge.

I love having doors opened for me. My husband had to train me, when we first met I would always beat him to it. Finally one day he said something about how I never let him open my door. I knew he was a keeper! Now I let him, and he does. My sons do too.

Chivalrous behavior is always appreciated(!!) :) I will never cease to be amazed by women who *don't* want doors opened, hands kissed, etc. One of my boyfriends in high school had a British mother; his chivalry manners were OUTSTANDING - I even sent her a (semi-joking) thank you note for them.

Froggy, since you mentioned the "she steps under my arm" bit, I'm assuming it was a push door? Allow me to repeat one of my favorite bits of Etiquette Grrl wisdom:

"Push, you go first; pull, she goes first; revolving, you go first, but not so fast that she has to run or get squished." :)

Oh yes, definitely like having doors opened up for me! Especially by my dh. And my dd's bf's win major brownie pts with me if I see them opening doors for my dd.

:)

I know what you mean about those British mams! DH is British and he always opens doors for me (and anyone else around!), won't let me carry anything--he even taught me that the lady always goes first EXCEPT when you're going downstairs. Then the gentleman goes first so if the lady falls, she lands on something soft (him!) MIL raised 4 boys and I love visiting all of them together--you've never seen a more polite group! We women rarely have to lift a finger! She did an excellent job.

I like having the door opened for me. Anyone who does this for me, man or woman, gets a big smile and thank you!

My h rarely held the door open, at least after the first couple years.

But more often than not, men open doors for me. There are a lot of gentlemen out there. I love it, always smile and say thank you.

I hold the doors open for others as well.

Hey, it's not just the Brits that have chivalrous manners :) I don't know if it's a southern thing or what, but most of the guys I know (myself included) wouldn't be caught dead walking beside a woman that was carrying something while they went empty handed. I ALWAYS open doors for my wife or for any woman that happens to be heading for a door I'm standing near...If more people behaved in this fashion, I firmly believe the world would be a much better place ::yes::

People open doors for me, I open doors for others. It's all good! Courtesy is contagious, just like a smile.

I like having the door opened for me and I hold doors open for anyone who is behind me.

:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: I mostly enjoy the gooey feeling it gives me after 22 yrs together....
