Do you need the ME letter?

We are traveling with my BIL on this trip. He has a different address from us and never received the letter about Magical Express or luggage tags. We are driving, but he is on the res and we did complete ME information for him. He can pick up his own bag, but will he have any trouble getting on the bus with just his magic band?

He will be busy fine with the magic band. He doesn't even really need that; just give the CM your name and they'll just look you up and get you on the right bus.

Also, he doesn't have to go get his bags, either. When he gets to the DME desk, he can give his baggage claim checks to them and they'll pull his bags from the carousel and deliver them as if they had yellow tags on them. And before you say that that sounds risky, let me assure you that it's not. DME does that hundreds of times every day, and they been doing it every day since DME started 15 years ago. In fact, that letter he doesn't have actually tells you to do that if you don't use the tags.

Getting back to MCO via ME, he may need the letter. They made me produce mine last time I used them because the bus was PACKED.

Thanks, we will make sure he gets one at the resort.

Thanks, he's landing at 9 pm, so although he could get it picked up, I think he will get his bag himself.

I’d have him make sure they have him down for DME. Call to make sure.

He doesn’t need anything but ID. Or like my son, his name and the resort.

People don't come prepared.

? Those things aren’t required for DME from
the airport. You brought thing they’ll accept. So did the others you noticed around you.

I had a problem with DME going to MCO to go home one time. The bus driver insisted we did not sign up for DME and wouldn’t let us on the bus. I showed him our email confirmation and it seemed to irritate him. Then he told us he couldn’t let us on the bus because there was no room. Argued with him some more and he finally let us on but only because we had the email confirmation. The whole thing took about 20 minutes and a lot of the people on the bus were upset with us because now they were running late. Funny thing was the bus stayed 1/2 full so there is no way there wasn’t room for us.

You do need the letter the resort should provide to you the day before you leave to go from the resort to MCO. You don't need it to go from MCO to the resort. Glad it worked out for you.

The letters get submitted to Disney for payment. No letter and Mears is transporting you for free. The people on the bus were right to be upset with you. The driver should have told you to go to the front desk and have your letter reprinted, possibly without waiting for you. The letter confirms which bus you have a reservation for. The email confirmation doesnt.

I did show the driver both the letter and the email confirmation. I guess I forgot to write that I also had the letter in my last post. I do understand why the people were mad with me but the driver was clearly being a jerk. He had the letter and confirmation email. He said our name wasn’t on the list he had on a pad he was holding so we couldn’t get on. He wouldn’t let me look for my name on the list and he didn’t care if we had the email confirmation and letter. When I showed him the email and letter he told me he still couldn’t let us on because there was no room on the bus which was untrue.

If the letter you presented was the letter left on your resort door a day or two before your departure AND LISTED THE BUS you wanted to board your driver was wrong. Otherwise you were 100% wrong.
