As I said in my last thread, my sisters and I are heading "home" on July 9th for a few days - we have family and friends to see, get to the cementery and get that cleaned and fresh paint on the family plots, BUT am still going to have enough time -I am taking envelopes down, filling them up and sending them back to the owners from Key West with all kinds of information that is nice to know if you are going to be in my hometown - I am also picking up about 15 pairs of Kinos for folks that can't get back down there to get them - the only cost you will have is for me to get them to you. My sister Rose just came back from here and picked up 5 pairs in every color possible. Now REMEMBER I AM LEAVING JULY 9th so if you need anything reasonable, just drop me a note.
Norm is leaving the same day for the Bahamas - he and his son are going fishing and then fish some more and get their hands on conch salads, eat their catches, have lobster and most of all remember back when all that was possible while growing up in Key West - we grew up on everything that came from the ocean. I remember on the weekends, parents would take all the kids down to the beach - we would have our fill of stone crab, blue crab, lobsters, fish and end it with watermelon that was "chilling" in the water of the beach - at night we slept at the edge of the water with our feet in the water and watch the sunrises in the morn. NOW THAT IS PARADISE.
Just another tidbit of how it was in Key West.
anyhow must run---------KNOW WHAT TODAY IS???????????? THANK GOD ITS FRIDAY.
Have a great weekend.
Always
Shirley and Norm
The two ol' conchs :earsboy: :earsgirl: :cheer2:

Thanks for always extending such a generous offer. If you can shove a Key Lime pie into an envelope and send it my way, I'd be eternally grateful. :teeth:

Seriously, have a fantastic visit "home." With those memories, I can understand why it's so special for you. :flower:

Hi Shirley - I wrote about a month ago but I think that is right around the time you had your accident.

If you could I would love to know recommendations on renting the electric cars. We are going down to Key West on the Member Cruise in September and plan on renting them with friends. Any advice you can give would be appreciated.

Thanks and have a great trip home!

Hey there Mary,
Listen go to Moped Hospital and ask for Norm's son Charlie and tell him that you are friends of ours - he will treat you good --my sister Rose rented the electric cars and she came back saying it was the only way to go --I know when we go down next month, I plan to get one and travel the Key West roads the fun way - anyhow they are on the corner of Simonton and Truman Avenue which is about 10 blocks South of Mallory Square - when I am down there will ask Charlie what accomdations does MH have for pickup from the port ok.
Have a great time in KW and still BEWARE of the shirt shops - I understand they still at it.
Always
Shirley

i just pm you. you are so kind for offering.... :flower: i would like to know about the eletric cars too please and what should be beware with the t-shirt shops? its been about 5 years since we have been there....

Regina - all I can say is if you will let me know when you are going to be in town again, I personally will bake you a REAL key lime pie with REAL key limes  ---------long time receipe used over the last umteen years by the family.
Anyhow shirt shops scoop - you have to be very careful since the shops will quote you one price, charged you double and if you don't look at your credit card slip, you are going to have one heck of a surprise when you get your bill.
I am an ol' conch and they ALMOST got me for $400.00, but I caught it when I walked out the shop, turned around and went back in - ended up having to call the police in --they catch them, close them up and then open up in the same place, different name -----the electric cars are neat - I am going to try them when I am down there and will post when I get back.
Now those wanting Kino's -I do NOT know what the postage will be since I am having to bring them back home, pack them up and mail them to those that wanted them --I only can do a few for each since I have over 20 orders for them now -I believe Kino sandels go for about 7 to 9 dollars plus the postage.
Hope all have a fun time this weekend.
Always
Shirley

Shirley,

I have two questions. First...I have looked everywhere and I can't find my copy of your Key Lime pie receipe. May I have another copy? I made it last summer and after reading this post, I'm craving a piece. :goodvibes YUM!!

Second, I'd emailed you earlier in the year with an order for sandals. Would you mind adding my order to your growing list?

I hope you have a safe and fun trip "home" and that Norm has fun fishing and eating lobster, conch and all the other goodies that they will catch.

Happy Friday!!
Ginny :cutie:

I just pm'd you. Hope you have a fun and safe trip!

My mouth just waters when I think of the key lime pie!

Hi Shirley,
Have a great trip and thanks again for the kids special surprises on the 14 day repo cruise. They absolutely loved all the goodies! They were thrilled with the jewelry as well!!!!

Again, have fun...... :moped:

Hi Deb,
I am glad the kids enjoyed their stuff and more the cruise of a lifetime - glad you are now home safe --please keep in touch.
Always
Shirley

Hey Shirley - You are so generous with your time. My family and I will be traveling to KW in Sept on the DVC cruise. We have an almost 4yo and a 1yo with us. I know that KW isn't necessarily known for children's activities, but do you have any suggestions. We were thinking about booking the trolley tour on our own, so that we can get on/off the trolley, but that's about it.

Shirley, could I possibly still get in an order for the "original" Kenos? My size is 8. I googled them, and they sound great! Can you email me with the info (amount of money etc) so I can get it to you? Thanks alot! :)
If they don't have the original, the new "Patriot Lili" looks nice too.

Hi Amy - with small children, the way to go is the trolley unless you have a bunch of monies and time and want to rent an electric car to get around on your own - I believe the conch train would be very boring for them - as for activities for kids there is a great park at Clarence Higgs Beach at the end of White Street and then there is the Aquarium and the Butterfly Farm at the end of Duval Street. Most kids love chicken and you will find them all over especially on Whitehead Street ---this is something KW has always had even from my "time" ----I am taking some of grandkids down this trip (just found out yesterday) and I really don't take them downtown, but I am going to take them to the butterfly farm - of course they are much older, but I believe they will enjoy it. They most likely will spend their time in the pool

Jillpie ------first if you get the chance email me at snelsonbrown@aol.com with the information on the kino's etc - now I don't know how much postage it will take to mail the sandels to you - shouldn't be too much - I am going to have to do it from the shop tho since I have the stuff there to make it easier to send out - as for payment, again I don't know the postage, but will let you know - it shouldn't be too much. Oh let me know if you want it insured.

Its going to be nice to get home again - I just got an email from my son Michael who wants to go down with me, then my sister's daughter Angel called me yesterday when she heard her mama was going with me and she wants to go down with 3 kids so now its getting interesting - of course I love it when they say "hey mom or mema or tia - I can help with all the work at the graveyard -you need me" :rotfl2: --and the best part, they are right so I guess we are going down in a caravan style, but again what memories it will bring back.
Anyhow again I will print out your orders, get your kinos and mail them out to you - there is no extra charge for doing this for you and nope no "secret" plans behind it either.
Always
Shirley

Sure thing Shirley, I just emailed you, thanks! :)
