Do you need a car at BC/YC?

We never rent a car and I'm just a bit concerned w/ the bus transportation to MK & AK...should we rent a car? I know the parking situation at MK is bad too so I'm a bit torn...I'd rather not drive but I don't wait to wait forever for a bus either!

We're staying at BC in Sept. We were planning on getting a car anyway, but using buses to go to the parks. But, after reading some of the threads on here & seeing that SO many resorts share the route w/ BC, I'm thinking we'll probably end up driving to the parks a lot. Especially since we'll have strollers to contend with.

We stayed at BCV in March and although we had a car we did not use it to go to the Magic Kingdom. It was easier to take the bus than to drive and deal with the TTC. We did use the car to go to AK and DTD and that was great. We just rented the cheapest car we could get for the week and it was about the same as a towncar would have cost.

We were just there and didn't have a car, and it was not a problem. The bus runs about every twenty minutes. It's about a fifteen minute ride to MK and AK.

We just came back too and the buses weren't a problem at all. We did use a taxi a couple of times, because we didn't want to chance it, but we really couldn't complain about the busing. They have a CM out in the morning and if they need additional buses, they call for them. We never had a bus come to pick us up at the BC that was already full. Even though the buses service more than one resort, they don't alwalys service them all. The only time buses were full was at park closing time at MK. I was a little nervous about this myself, but next time I wouldn't rent a car again, it wasn't worth the cost to me. I'd rather take a taxi when I need to.

We have stayed at YC numerous times. We do rent a car, because we visit a lot of the different resorts and I like to have it for that purpose. For the parks, bus to MK has usually worked just fine. On the other hand, we usually drive to AK. Have not historically been comfortable with the wait time, other stops and length of that bus ride. Since we have the flexibility of driving, we do so. However, it really is not that bad and I would not rent a car solely for this reason.

We stay at BWV mostly, though also at BCV. We normally rent a car, but never drive to MK, because it's just not that easy to get to the gate once you park your car. It's our one bus ride on our vacation, and we just deal with it.
To AK, we always drive because it is SO easy: you park your car, walk a few feet to the tram, which is almost always waiting for you, then the tram lets you off very CLOSE to the gate.
However, the bus lets you off very FAR from the gate, and when it's time to leave the park, that hot walk to the bus stop is killer.

We had a better experience driving to BCV than taking the bus. I'm sure it varies according to season, departure time, etc, but don't necessarily rule out driving to MK.

It's only a 5-minute drive to the parking lot, and if you have reasonable luck with the trams and monorail you may well get there faster than the bus, as we did. We went Sunday morning for early entry, and parked in the first row of cars, so had a short walk to TTC. Even though the express monorail wasn't yet running, the resort monorail still got us there by 7:50. The previous year leaving our room at the same time, the bus didn't get us there until 8:00.
