Do you mind air turbulence?

If not, you would have loved our flight home last night. Almost an hour and a half of heavy heavy turbulence, bouncing all around. This was from Orlando to Chicago last night. I think after that, flying will never bother me again.

Glad your home OK, if that was me I would have been freaking out. Our last trip to wdw we had turbulence for about 10 minutes and I was a nervous wreck - I hate the feeling of going up and down uncontrollably!!

I don't mind it at all, and I am waiting for my first real bout of the stuff - but then again, I'm a big fan of flying. Turbulance helps you realize you are in fact on an airplane! :lovestruc

My last trip from Orlando last month was so bad the stewardessess were not allowed to leave their seats the whole flight. I thought it would bother my son but he slept the whole time.

Me? I was rocking on my iPod!!:cool1:

My stomach minds it! I'm not especially nervous, since I'm fairly comfortable that turbulence doesn't mean we're crashing. But I will get airsick!

I hate turbulence, because it usually happens around the time that I have to go to the potty!

I only got sick once during a turbulent flight, and that was during a short Newark-Boston flight. It was just a little wild for me...I love ToT, but you're SUPPOSED to fall out of the sky on that one!

I am not fond of flying anyway so turbulence freaks me out a bit. I get a whole lot of praying done when I fly from Cali to WDW.

They probably would have had to sedate me! I hate flying....haven't always hated it but since being in DL on 9-11 and having to fly home I hate it now! We flew to Key West in Dec. The big planes were ok from SLC/DFW/MIA but then the tiny prop plane to Key West at night over the ocean in the winter darn near did me in! I had to pop 2 xanax just to get ON the plane! I hate it!

I look at the flight attendant's faces. If they're calm, I'm calm. If I see a look of fear, then I start to worry.

I think I will take my iPod with me on my next trip. I was a little afraid the x-ray machine might mess it up. I had heard of people having their digital camera memory cards erased going thru them. Of course I took my camera and it was fine, but I am never sure what is fact or fiction.

I have only flown twice in my life. The first time I was 14 and alone. Thankfully there wasn't any then. However, when we flew home from Disneyland last year there was quite a bit and my DH and oldest daughter were bothered. I thought my DH was going to pass out and DD14 was totally freaking out and crying. I was trying to stay calm and I felt so helpless because I couldn't get to her. There are 5 of us and I was by the window and she was on the aisle on the opposite side. I just want to hold her and tell her it would be ok, but I couldn't even reach her. I had to sit and choke back tears all the while trying to calm DH before he hyperventilated. DD6 wasn't phased a bit. The worst part was that they had just served drinks and most of my water spilled on my tray. DD 6 kept asking for food, lol. DD12 held up pretty well too. She did get a little upset because her big sis was so scared and she didn't know how to calm her.

I enjoy turbulence. No flight is complete without a bit of turbulence! :cool1:

It never used to bother me too much but the last several trips we've encountered some really rough patches. The last flight home, in fact, it was beautiful out--not a cloud in the sky--and suddenly we dropped altitude pretty quickly and the wings looked like they were unnaturally flexed! It was the first time in my life that I actually prayed out loud on a flight! I was trying to stay as calm as possible because both of my younger children were watching me. The flight attendents were caught off guard by the turbulance and quickly scrambled to their seats. I still get tense just thinking about it.

I understand the dynamics of flying but for some reason when it happens during our flight, all reasoning goes out the window! Any suggestions?!

It never bothered me but two years ago while returning to ny from Ca the plane was fine and all of a sudden it dropped. The flight attendants sat on the floor. Then one made his way to the speaker on his bottom and told us to remain calm and he would be around with napkins as soon as he got the OK. We also had received our drinks and were now wearing them on our heads. :scared: :scared1:

Oh I just wanted to add that the flight attendant told us it was just like hitting a pot-hole in the sky. We have some pretty big pot-holes in NY but known as scarey as that one.

I don't mind pot holes. You can only go down just so many feet. I don't think you'll find a pot hole that's a few hundred feet deep, even on Chicago expressways after winter. I suppose the plus on ours was that it was dark out and couldn't see the wings bouncing. As someone mentioned, the kids on the plane mostly slept through it. The parents and adults were sure wide awake!

Another plus from that flight was that on taking off, we saw the fireworks from Illuminations. And when landing on Monday we saw the Wishes fireworks from the sky.:tinker: Never saw them before from the air, and this trip saw them coming and going.

I always think I don't want to take evening/night flights because any turbulance would feel even worse but maybe it would be better because you couldn't see anything out!

Mind? I'd be lucky to keep my lunch down. Oh yea, they don't feed you lunch! Anyway, I would probably have at least passed out.

I hate it. :scared1: :scared1: I'm already dreading our trip to CA this summer. :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

Terrifying to me! :scared1:

My DH had to convince me to fly on our last WDW trip, as I was pretty fearful. The trip down was fairly smooth and helped alleviate my fears, but the trip back was through a tropical storm. It. Was. So. SCARY! We bounced up and down, left and right. The flight attendants had to remain seated almost the whole trip.

I'm never flying again. Unless DH takes me overseas.
